If you're trying to get into philosophy this is absolutely the first book you should take a look at. It'll definitely test your vocabulary so have a device nearby with Google on standby. It's a great read though and I'm reading it for a second time now. It's an all time great!

As someone who has been a voracious reader and lifetime learner for more than 7 decades my passions have ranged from the sciences to the esoteric, from the great ancient literature to the philosophic classics and beyond. My Interest in great minds has led me from the Greek philosophers Plato, and Aristotle to one of the most famous and enduring thinkers and philosophers in the history of our civilizations Marcus Aurelius. This is why when I saw this 208-page book while browsing on Amazon (Meditations by Marcus Aurelius) I decided to purchase it even though I had read this book more than 40 years ago. This book is organized into twelve parts dealing with a wide range of topics. In the past, I recall having some trouble understanding some of his commentary about life, death and so many other issues; however, I really enjoyed rereading the thoughts of this great thinker. If you love philosophy and ideas of great ancient masters this is a gook you might want to consider reading. I loved it. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. I liked the statements and sense of Marcus Aurelius. I found them to be a guiding way to live right among all kinds of stress and strains in the world that makes me crazy. I feel peace in knowing that our human condition in our world today seems to have not changed much over the centuries and that someone then was able to bring some sanity to it all. As far as the movie "Gladiator", which Marcus Aurelius was mentioned in (that I thought was a fictional character) later stunned me to find out that he was actually a real guy! Here's the proof and it makes me feel that I wonder if the movie "Gladiator" was a sort of true event. I don't know, all that I do know is that this book has a lot of wisdom in it and that I recommend it.

I bought this book to give to friends because I enjoyed my copy Marcus Aurelius so much… However, this translation has unnecessary translated into Shakespearean old English… You don’t need to say “thou”, say “you”. I would look for a more contemporary version. I understand if “old English” was the original language,… But it was not, so the translation is unnecessarily less accessible.

Nice book. The shipping is also very good. I got the book in very good condition.

More then retail price and not in anywhere close to new condition I am very upset with my order, has weird stains and cracks on the book, wouldn’t buy again.
