Cooks & Co Semi-Dried Tomato Segments Marinated in Oil 295 g (Pack of 6)

I was rather disappointed in these - I had bought them after the local Marks and Spencers ran out of a similar product.However, compared to the M&S, which was a little tough and chewy (pleasantly so), these came across as soft and soggy without much texture. The taste was also less subtle (less “umami”) while being more tart, which I thought was not an improvement.All in all, while not awful, I will be going back to M&S or trying to find other versions on the internet.

These tubs are huge - Amazon only ship them in packs of 3 1kg tubs so they do take up space.The container is plastic with a solid lid, and foil seal underneath. The tomato halves are suspended in roughly half a litre of oil so you get less than the raw weight which is fair enough. The tomato halves are a solid quality, but are unseasoned so shouldn't be eaten alone raw unless you enjoy quite a harsh taste. These work particularly well in italian cooking, but should be added towards the end of cooking as they don't need excessive cooking.

Just finished the first jar of these sun-dried tomatoes, amazing flavor and not overwhelmingly salty, unlike others I've tasted in the past. Really good buy, especially for the price. Recommended for anyone who has sufficient pantry space to store several jars as there is no need to keep them in the fridge until after opened.As an extra bonus, some of my relatives don't eat/like garlic and so far these sun-dried tomatoes are the only ones to NOT contain any (also contributes to a more neutral flavor); therefore, I'm very pleased to have stumbled upon them.Note: One of the jars had leaked oil during shipping, but the brown paper that was used as filler around the jars absorbed it all, so the oil didn't actually reach the external box. Seems like the packaging was appropriate and kept jars safe enough.

These are great - when soaked I add them to soups etc for extra flavour. They are nice eaten as is too, but very chewy, and extremely oily. The containers are great for re-use, which is something I often look for.I have replaced the oil they came in with olive oil though, as I did not think the oil was very nice, but I filtered it and put it in the deep fat fryer so nothing was wasted!

These sundried tomatoes are exactly what they should be. My only problem is I don't remember why I thought I'd need so many jars. At least I'll be okay for pasta sauce when the zombie apocalypse comes!
