I just got a dismissal on a lawsuit involving junk collector Midland Funding
This book is awesome! I just learned yesterday that a lawsuit with notorious junk collector Midland Funding was dismissed! And I owe it all to this book! It never made it past the discovery stage because I followed exactly what he said in the book. I only wish I had this valuable reference when I answered the subpoena, because it probably wouldn't have made it to even discovery. Even if you don't live in Georgia, like I do, I believe this book would still be useful. You just need to reference the laws in your state and apply them to what he says do. He needs to write another book on what to do if it does go to court, because I'm sure that would be very useful as well!

This is perfect for pro se litigants
Well...back in 2018 I had to close my store since my hubby got a job at a school instead of continuing his own business...I was using a TON of credit cards and so since I closed my store in Jan of 2018 I just stopped paying about a third of my cards...I never actually added up what I owed but it was all tolf prob $20k+....in June I stopped about another third and Dec the rest....I just kept the one attached to my bank...so when I got served in July of 2019 I was not really surprised...My first move was to buy this book and read it quickly...I was able to file my answer and I was ready if they wanted to continue...and the court clerk somehow screwed it all up by not entering my answer but I had done their discovery and they of course evaded mine....but I went to a court date that I was not sure I needed to go to and the judge actually said it did not concern me??? WTF??? I am the one being sued...it DEFINTIELY concerns me...but they were ready to get default judgement but it was denied because I HAD filed my answer ...I also in Feb of 2020 got sued by Target so I was able to general denial that one....but I became more and more angry the more I read about this whole racket of debt collection and am currently writing my own book on it to inspire people to at least TRY to fight back....thank you Mr. Harkleroad ...you saved me..I got both suits dismissed so you helped me for sure and inspired me...

Great knowledge and useful for even lawyers!
This book is really one of a kind. The author does a good job of lifting up the reader with insights into the system of debt collection and a broad list of your rights. The book is tremendously helpful with a full detail of how to fight back with a list so long of retribution reasons it can fill a law book. The reasons such as securitization, excessive amount owed or asked for collection, various state laws, collector licenses, and much more are really useful. The book leaves the reader with a weapon in hand if the reader ever goes to court; mainly, a print in hand motion to dismiss filing and a laundry list of VALID research (probably using Lexus Nexus). Most prominent lawyers use the popular software Lexus Nexus when doing research and the author points out you may find it at your library. Luckily, I have a license through work and the amount of research the author provides is worth the price tag. The one exception to this book is it doesn't give information on how to file a suit when creditors break the Fair Debt Collection Practices Laws (FDCPA) and how to file a suit with original creditors if possible. The book only goes into detail on how to fight back and what precautions to take if you are sued and not how to go necessarily on offense by filing first. It especially gets under my skin a little when he mentions he is settling out of court with two creditors because he proactively filed suit but then won't go into detail (Probably because it is still in court...? If so I wish he would say that).A very mad consumer with knowledge can be a dangerous thing and the author proves it. The moral point of the story is if you owe the debt pay it, even call and make arrangements - but do not let your creditors (whether original or third-party) bully you or break the law. I personally have filed a FDCPA complaint and have had a creditor back off after disputing the debt within the law --- I didn't get that information from the book though! Just letting you know the more knowledge you have the better and this book does a great job of providing.

Great Information!!
Absorbed this book like a sponge. It helped me come up with a plan of action and determine how to win my case. I did win my case with an OC. They dropped the case when it got to a week from trial.

keep from getting railroaded
this has been a lifesaver for us. since my husband lost his job a couple years ago we have been dealing with creditors. we never tried to avoid paying but we also could not afford the payments they were trying to stick us with. this book helped us see that we did not have to let them control us and we have been able to win 3 court cases and set up reasonable payments with the remaining three. finally we are seeing light at the end of the debt tunnel.

Decent Book but I like his web sites better
I found the authors web sites so I bought the book. I like his style and I appreciate his help with fighting back. He shares a lot of good information on his web site so I bought the book. The book has some decent information but it does have a lot of typos and it is not cohesive. It feels as if a lot of information was slapped onto the pages then printed, without flow. I am sure I will use his process so I am satisfied with the purchase, however, it works best as a compliment to another book on the same topic.
