Backpack Tether for Garmin inReach MINI/inReach MINI 2 Handheld GPS - Garmin Backpack Mount Not for Other Models

It is a good price when comparing with Garmin's solution. It is easy to install and attach to my day hike or backpacking bag shoulder strap. I love the cord which keeps it from falling to the ground. I have not had the experience of it falling off by accidental bumping as I have read in others reviews. It can take a bit of practice to put back within the harness, you have to be deliberate to align it in a diagonal so it falls into the groves and twist to upright position in the harness to lock in place. But I am sure you can get better at it with time.

This tether was perfect to relocate my attachment point in my avalanche air bag. Took no time to install and got my InReach to the right spot on my backpack strap.

While I have not taken this gadget out to field test it (it is not hiking season in my neck of the woods yet) I already attached it to my backpack to see how it works. It is super easy to attach the base part to the shoulder strap (the velcro closure lets you cinch it tight). Now, to attach the GPS first remove the existing clip from your GPS (in mine I lift the bottom of the clip and slide it down. The clip comes off easily). Now slide in the clip of the holder until you hear it click (the round part goes in first). To attach the GPS to the tether, angle the GPS to the 11:00 position on a clock until you feel it fall into place and then turn the GPS to the right until it is upright and securely attached. That's it! My only reservation about this mount is that this does not offer a locking mechanism when the GPS is mounted on the tether base. It is very easy to twist off to unmount it. I worry about accidentally nudging it while hiking and have it come loose. The attached cord should prevent it from falling on the ground, though. If it had that added safety feature I would have given it all 5 stars. A bit of added security would be ideal.

Garmin support is excellent. Garmin has always been very helpful when I have a question. I have upgraded to a inReach mini 2. I have not had an opportunity to use it yet.

Product as expected

Works great. Took it out on my hike the other day, wrapped it around my backpack shoulder strap and it stayed put. Be careful though, if you don't get it wrapped all the way around and you are wearing a dry-fit shirt.... the velcro will snag it the shirt. 🤦‍♂️

The attachment is easy to install. I’m using a Garmin 66i, and I can easily remove and attach it. The tether is very helpful in case the GPS falls to your hand, which has happened to me several times. The only downside is that if you attach it near your shoulder, your hands may constantly hit it, causing the GPS to fall. The tether prevents it from falling to the ground because the device can easily rotate and be removed.

Very pleased with the functionality and quality of this product. Initially I thought it was a little pricey but when I considered its uniqueness I now feel the cost is fair.
