Easy Smart Thermostat Alternative For Any DIY Enthusiast
I've been using Shelly devices for several years and have been consistently impressed. These add-ons are fantastic! I have one currently controlling my 240V, 3000W electric space heater. It's configured with one leg of the 240V connection (at 120V) running through the relay, which also powers the Shelly 1. This add-on is connected to a standard DS18B20 temperature probe. Using Shelly's virtual thermostat feature with this add-on, I can precisely control my shop's temperature from anywhere with an internet connection via the Shelly app. I also have another one of these units controlling an exhaust fan in a grow room, connected to a DHT20 temperature and humidity sensor. Both add-ons have been working flawlessly. You can use these devices with a variety of sensors, including soil temperature/moisture sensors, and they can be powered by DC as well. This adds tremendous value to Shelly Plus devices! I highly recommend these add-ons for any home automation project. They are easy to configure and use. In the future, I plan to add a display unit and an OpenHab server to create custom widgets showing the temperature and other metrics all in a nice wall display.

Shelly is Great
Shelly is a awesome device, works without issues and connects with home assistant. Setup up a multi sensor that track the duct system of my home HVAC and if the fan is running or not.

Works with photo diode
The add on is used with a photo diode and works well.

Little device with a lot of capabilities
I got this to add on to my Shelly Plus One and it was super simple to add. Just click it in place, and connect a temperature probe the provided terminals. You just need to go to the Shelly Plus One's web UI to enable this, and it'll be off and running. Pretty easy (and cost effective) way to extend a Plus One to have temperature and humidity sensors.

Works exactly as it should, nice add on to shelly relays.

Sensors
Excellent to add temperature sensors and analog and digital inputs to a Shelly relay. I'm using it to control a fridge, several temperature sensors inside the cabinet and a variable resistor to set the desired temperature without using an app

Shelly Ecosystem is great in Home Assistant
I really like the Shelly Addon. In my case I am doing something very specific, I am using the addon out doors to monitor the temp of animal waterers. I *could* have built this sensor myself but given the fact that it has a case, and hooks right into the shelly plus devices, this was definitely the way to go over DIY. Sure I could have done it cheaper, but at the end of the day, the temperature rating for these devices and the whole package were a big part of the reason I bought these. Works great with Home Assistant. I don't use the Shelly cloud. I used to flash Shelly devices with Tasmota, but recently the Shelly firmware has gotten quite good and the updates for the firmware show up in the HA dashboard which is a big plus. The add on has a limited number of sensors that it supports so its not perfect, but it fit my usecase perfectly

Extremely poor documentation
Just like every other Shelly products, they just expect you to figure it out by yourself. User guide and online manual is almost nothing and useless. They don't even tell you functionalities of each input and output and how they interact with the web UI or App. The web UI refers to INPUT(0), INPUT (100), INPUT (101) without telling you which pin on the device. They use terminologies and abbreviations without giving definitions. The Analog input characteristics is very vague. They say here and there that it can do a lot of things including analog sensor interface, 1-10V voltmeter, and etc. However, nowhere that they tell you how the system including web-UI/App comes together. They likely want you to dream about your application, buy their devices, and find out by yourself how it works. After spending hours trying to figure it out, here is what I found. - temperature sensor works OK, display accurate real-time temperature. I did not try using it to control the relay. - "Digital input" is just a ON/OFF switch. You cannot drive it with HI/LOW logic. Essentially, it is just a fancy mechanical switch for controlling a higher current relay. - Once you turn on or off the relay, it latch in that state, you cannot use logic input to change the state. - Digital input has internal pull-up, voltage is normally 3.3V. - Analog inputs do not work the way you would expect conventionally and Shelly does not tell you clearly how to use it. As such, I don't want to risk put it into a critical application. It seems to me that people who designed the products are not the ones who wrote the literature on how to use them. Whoever wrote product manual has very little idea on how the products work and how to put it to use. Why it is so difficult for Shelly to write informative user guide with a clear technical information? If you need good examples, go to Texas Instrument, Analog Devices, or Microchip websites to see how they write Application Notes for their devices or Evaluation boards. I have had no problem putting their IC to use , but I have a lot of problems putting Shelly finished products (like Shelly plus and and this Add-on) to use. It is annoying rather than enjoying.

Fantastic add on to a Shelly one. Used it for monitoring the temperature on my boilers flow and return pipes. With an additional device in the pump cupboard I can see the heat loss on the pipes from the boiler to the pump and back to the boiler. I’ve not got a condensing boiler so the return temperature is not critical, but when I have to replace my old boiler I should be able to predict what flow temperature I can run and I can see the impact of inculcation on my pipe work.
