Isolate It!: Sorbothane Sheet Stock 70 Duro (3/16x 12 x 12in)

This is exactly what I wanted and expected. I've used a number of similar material products before. I recently got old enough to need driving glasses and wanted to be able to toss them recklessly on my dashboard.This bizarre material is like the skin of some alien ooze monster. The glasses stay put exactly where I put them, but picking them back up takes a little patience. It's a bit like the pad has grabbed any item it touches and one has to plan on a 1-2 second gentle pull. It survived on the dash of our car in an extremely hot summer area and at 9 months, it's performing perfectly. Cut it with a very sharp, new razor blade on a cardboard or paper-topped softwood backing so your blade can go fully through the material.

I purchased this sorbothane to fill my mechanical keyboard and absorb sound to reduce pinging. It worked perfectly! This is a great thickness and will likely work with a majority of keyboard case designs. Do not underestimate the level of quality you can get by simply filling in the open space of your keyboard. A keyboard without pinging is just so satisfying to listen to.As a piece of advice when using sorbothane, just put a piece of construction paper between the sorbothane and your PCB/case to ensure you never have any discoloration.

I used this as an isolation base below a new pool pump. The pool equipment at my house is located right outside the master bedroom wall and anytime the old pump switched on the thrum was easily noticeable. It was something you could tune out if the pump was on 24/7, but distracting with each switch on. The pump was an older single speed model, so I upgraded the pump to a variable speed model and cut this pad to fit below it. The new pump has less vibration to begin with so its may not be a fair comparison. This product does seems to help. You can place your hand on the pump and feel its vibrations, but less so on the concrete pad. Certainly on the lowest two speed settings the pump is inaudible inside, which was my goal. I am not sure of this product's durability outside with pool water so I will update this if there is degradation.

The sobothane comes in a sheet covered on both sides with removable clear plastic sheeting. It's remarkably challenging to cut in part because of the protective sheets - this stuff is soft and sticks, which is good and what I was hoping for. It's gummy quality allows it to seat between my speakers and their metal stands. It's exactly what I wanted, though perhaps a shade thicker than expected. I'd recommend cutting it with a razor, exacto or similarly very sharp knife. A bit pricey but does the trick.

I've been using this stuff to make custom heel pads & arch supports for my shoes.The thinness & stickiness of this 10th inch, 40 duro sorbothane allows for using multiple layers in areas one needs more depth for support.It sticks to bottom of shoe well, but would stick to your feet or socks if it came in contact with them (so I put mine under a flat Spenco insole).A heel pad consisting of layer or two of this substantially reduces shock of heel strikes. And you can strategically cut out areas in the pads to reduce pronation, etc.I like my own sorbothane orthotics for my sensitive high-arched feet much better than any i've bought over the years because I can precisely fit them to each foot & each shoe.And it costs less too. You can get a lot of heel pads &, arch supports out of each sheet.

I had a water pump for a Coke machine set in a cabinet, and the way it vibrated when it kicked on sounded like an elephant in heat. Not really the vibe you want in a coffee shop.It works great, totally shuts down the vibration. My only issue is that over time the weight of the pump pushed its legs through the damping sheet and then it didn't really work. So basically it works great when it works, and needs replaced when it doesn't.

Cut the sheet in sections to get 4 3 x6 inch 1 inch thick pads to mount an air conditioner condenser. Had noisy vibrations in the house because condenser mounting pad is next to the house. Tried foam which helped a little but ill not what w desired. Found Sorbothane and did the calculations from the formulas which are given in the Sorbothane website. Installed the pads and the noise disappeared. Can barely hear the fan air noise now. WOW what a difference! Before placing the Sorbothane between the ac condenser and support pad the vibration from the condenser could be felt in the ground next to the pad. After Sorbothane installation, the vibration could be barely felt on the pad.

I used this to dampen some equipment. It's quite soft, softer then the durometer rating I ordered. I brought it into the lab at work and checked it with their calibrated equipment. In terms of damping it works well. It's a bit slippery, and seems to be "walking" out from under the machine a bit with time. This is my number one complaint. I'll add some adhesive to it next overhaul. The textured dampIt does dampen vibration and noise well and seems to be resistant to oils well.

Used it to isolate my vinyl record player and other pieces of my modular sound system from vibration. Easy to cut the sheet into smaller pieces using a very sharp pair of scissors. Excellent results.

expensive but worth it. Used it all over my hi-end hi-fi system-under cd player, amp,in fact every metal box in the system to damp minute resonances. Sorbothane rings also used as feet under all equipment boxes.If your sound system costs more than say £2k, then buy it.

I needed something to isolate part of my turntable from unwanted vibrations. This stuff is Takky in the best possible way, it is almost adhesive. As D. Trotter would say:- Les bolleaux de le chiene!

Brill product, used between top of loudspeaker stand and new MDF top plate it will assist in stopping loudspeaker resonance passing through the loudspeaker stand into a suspended timber floor. Use Focal Polipods between MDF top plate and underneath of loudspeaker (No resonance passes from loudspeaker to floor through loudspeaker stand).

L'ho acquistato per ricavarne solette per le scarpe e, per questo impiego, non mi è stato utile, in quanto il foglio è molto sottile e quindi non assorbe bene le sollecitazioni del piede.E' possibile che sia più adatto ad altri usi (es. come fonoassorbente), cosa per cui io non l'ho provato.

Lo spessore dichiarato di 6,35 mm non era rispettato, ma variava fra i 6,66 e i 5,25 mm. Acquistato per appesantire e smorzare le vibrazioni di un piatto giradischi, lo sbilancia a causa del peso non equamente distribuito e provoca oscillazioni verticali di braccio e puntina che lo rendono inutilizzabile per quello scopo

Compré esta pieza para ponerla bajo un giradiscos y evitar vibraciones. No está mal pero varias puntualizaciones:- No es una base rígida- Es como un "vinilo gomoso" que queda bien sujeto a la superficie- Quizás no es lo más adecuado para un giradiscos

I have used it as a recoil pad in my shotgun shooting vest. Cuts easy with knife or scissors and works great. Much better material than "Berreta" supplied silicone pad in my shooting vest.

Leider ist die Haftkraft sehr hoch dadurch kann ich sie nicht verwenden. Auch nicht ganz eben in der Fläche zusammenlegen führt zu so starker Verbindung das sie kaum noch zu trennen ist

I cut this easily to the size of the top plate of my sand filled speaker stands. The layers of vibration absorption from the speakers is subtle but effective at low volume and very noticeable at high volume. For $12 per speaker it is an extremely cost effective tweak.
