Hats by Madame Paulette: Paris Milliner Extraordinaire Hardcover – April 22, 2014

Interesting looks on hats, this was the first time I have read anything about Madame Paulette, after having seen a lot of her hats in copies of vintage Vogue and Harper's Bazaar magazines. Beautifully made elegant hats and indeed the Rolls Royce of hat making.

Classis.

I was given this book as a gift (my gift giver is the "verified buyer" in this case, as my sister bought it on Amazon. At any rate, since it's my book I will be doing the reviewing). And I LOVE this book. It's extremely well produced and the photographic images are very well done. Production values are so important with books like these, and of course, a beautifully printed image cannot compare to a picture on the internet at least not yet. That's why I was shocked to see another reviewer had given this book a mediocre review because she has seen images in the book on the internet. So what? The text is also very interesting, and I learned things about Madame Paulette I did not know, including her early years, how she learned to be a hat maker, and the people she designed for. I am so glad her daughter in law decided to write this book. You can always have a book to look at, you cannot always look for pictures on the internet. This book would make a great gift - I should know - and is wonderful to keep next to your bed (it is a beautiful object - something a computer screen may never be) or on a coffee table for some instant inspiration.

Lovely item, great pictures...this is a book for real hat lovers! Its a mix of fashion history a la Dior, Chanel and Madame Paulette's style...Love it!
