Is this suitable for decking? I'm concerned that it may be slippy.

As it is silicon based I would not recommend it for decking. Decking oil would be better

What is the difference between the liquid and the cream?

The Liquid is a Milk like consistency so it is applied with a brush, very runny and drys very fast so the second coat needs to be applied within 30 Minutes of the first coat as once completely dry seals the wood. First time application only needs two applications. Really quick and easy to use product. .

is this safe for bird nest boxes

Yes it is safe provided it is used on the external surfaces only. The perches and entrance hole should remain untreated to ensure nothing is transferred to the interior.
