A permanent part of my leather rehab kit
Isopropyl alcohol on its own is a good deglazer, so is acetone (pure acetone, not the kind with essential oil and fragrance mixed in), but the Angelus deglazer wins when it comes to removing any kind of unnecessary finish on aniline dyed hides. Yes, you'll lose some color, but the results will be nice and even and give you a pleasant surface to redeposit liquid pigments.

Perfect for transforming shoe leather to a different color
I followed some YouTube videos and used this to deglaze a pair of casual dress shoes that were too orange in color instead of tan/brown. After using as directed, I used the companion Angelus leather dye and transformed my shoes from a back-of-the-closet mistake to everyday work shoes. I do believe the product is largely acetone. So, that could be an alternative for some if you happen to have a can in your shed/garage.

Easy to use and works well
Easy to use. It works fine. You may want to use gloves to keep the solution off your fingers and hands. It does produce some vapor like nail polish remover.I used it on a belt so I could change it from a brown color to mahogany. While the deglazer did not remove the brown color, it did remove the waxy polish coating so the new dye could penetrate.

Nail polish remover should do the same
Works well, does make stripping off color and old products much easier. Make sure to cover the other areas when use this product! I got little on my coated canvas while working on the leather trim and the color/design on that area (luckily not the main area of the bag) came right off! FYI this act and smells just like nail polish remover not sure if there is any difference.

Unbelievable results!
I used this acrylic shoe paint on my 10 year old golf shoes and the results were unbelievable. I tried a shoe dye last year with miserable results. If the paint didn’t work, I was going to throw the shoes away. If you want to rejuvenate your old leather shoes, I highly recommend shoe paint.
