I already knew how to say the characters so I needed something to help me learn to write them, and this book was great. I also ordered a tian zi ge book so that I can do some more practice.

This book actually requires you to spend time studying. If you think you have bought it and just because of that you know Chinese all of a sudden...then you're wrong. It has simple as well as complex exercising patterns so all in all if you put the time in you will get the results with this book.

I liked the way it brings the student into the subject clearly and objectively.

The only mistake I made when buying this was not getting volume 2 at the same time. I'm studying Mandarin at home, using a Zoom class, Duolingo, and a workbook that offers online audio practice, so I need to do a lot of self-directed writing study. Honestly, could not have done it without these books. Between them, the two volumes cover everything that I need for any of my individual study media/texts. Perfect.

A novice to Mandarin can enjoy this attractive workbook. Tuttle is a trusted name in language studies. Mandarin Pinyin and English arranged by number of strokes, with good stroke diagrams to follow and generous copybook space for practicing Mandarin. Good value. Graduate to Volume II when it's available.

Best resource ive found for learning how to write chinese character and build up vocabulary. Can't recommend enough.

As a newcomer to Mandarin, this is probably the best book that you can get hands down! As not only will you learn stroke order but also how to recognise the characters. This book covers roughly 176 characters and 180+ words

Love it! Wish this book series continued for HSK 3 and 4 as well.

J'ai acheté ce livre pour maîtriser la lecture et l'écriture des sinogrammes pour l'examen hsk 1 de chinois. À défaut d'être esthétique, ce livre est bien fait. Les explications sont simples. Les mots sont présentés dans l'ordre logique d'apprentissage. Pour chaque mot, on a le sinogramme en chinois simplifié, sa version traditionnelle, le pinyin, quelques usages, le radical et en dessous un grille d'entraînement avec les dessins dans l'ordre. Au bout de quelques mots, on a une série de petits exercices d'écriture puis au bout d'un moment de lecture. Vraiment très pragmatique et bien fait. Je suis ravie de l'avoir acheté.

You should definitely get this book if you’re interested or want to learn Chinese or get it if you want to freshen up your knowledge or skills.

It was smaller than I expected but It’s a very good book for beginners.
