Remove existing devices and disabled inbuilt Bluetooth radio first
This review is based on Microsoft Windows use only. This dongle greatly extends the Bluetooth range on my premium laptops. I use Asus (dual inbuilt screen) and Microsoft Surface Pro laptops. These are premium, expensive machines and share the problem that the inbuilt Bluetooth radio has poor range. On the other hand, cheap Windows tablets (Chuwi for example) don't have this problem. I guess the premium machines are trying every trick to extend battery life. I use Bluetooth headsets for work calls for 12+ hours a day and need to be able to go to the front door to accept a delivery or indeed rush to the smallest room in the house (if you know what I mean). A huge problem for me before getting this dongle, was that with poor range, the work call would be maintained, but the headset would lose connectivity. Turning my head, or walking closer to the laptop would restore connectivity but, if I was muted on the headset before the connection drop, it would no longer be muted on reconnection and the sound of "Thanks" (to the delivery driver) or a flush (from the smallest room) could be heard on the other end of a work call. So, for the small price of this dongle, I took the risk and am so happy I did. I can thank delivery drivers all day and flush to my heart's content. Now, if your machine does not already have Bluetooth, this is a simple plug and play operation. Plug it in and Windows will recognise the device and you can then pair your Bluetooth devices. But, if you have Bluetooth inbuilt then there are a few steps to take before using this dongle as Windows has never supported more than one Bluetooth radio adapter. Step 1. Go to settings/"Bluetooth & devices" and remove every device you have already paired. Step 2. Go to the device manager (Win+X and select device manager), then expand the Bluetooth section and look for something that says "Radio". Right click on this and select "Disable Device" Now you can plug in this dongle and pair your devices again. For every day use, you can leave the dongle plugged in and all will be good, but if, like me, you travel a lot and want to go back to using the inbuilt Bluetooth radio, simply remove the Bluetooth devices, unplug the dongle, enable the inbuilt Bluetooth radio in Device manager and repair the Bluetooth devices. This sounds like a faff but in practice it only takes seconds. I am delighted with this purchase and am now flushed with Bluetooth range success :-)

Works with Linux
Linux is one of the best operating systems to prove you're a tech nerd. However at least in Linux Mint this thing just plugs in and works. I knocked a star off because I thought the fancy antenna would increase the range to my JBL headphones, it does not. It's no better than the tiny BlueTooth adaptors I have.

Excellent plug-n-play Bluetooth adapter with a powerful range
Excellent plug-n-play Bluetooth adapter with a powerful range. It really works wonders on MBs without this functionality. Can download a driver from its brand's website but to be honest it is really not needed. Compatible with anything with a USB really. It was very cheap compared to the performance!

So easy to install. Plug in USB and away you go
Had troubles with my laptop Bluetooth ,the driver wasn't responding to updates and the Bluetooth just wouldn't pair up with an other devices,so I purchased a duel mode adapter to see if could resolve my issues, my laptop recognised the adaptor straightaway and installed it within minutes,my Bluetooth works brilliantly now and pairs up with any other Bluetooth device in seconds,A brilliant piece of kit for just a few quid,Absolutely delighted with purchase.

Extremely Disappointing Performance and Reliability
I am very dissatisfied with the Maxuni USB Bluetooth 5.3 Dongle Adapter. Here’s why it earns just one star: Unreliable Connectivity: The Bluetooth connection is highly unstable and frequently drops out. This makes it impossible to maintain a consistent connection with my devices, which is very frustrating. High Latency: Despite being marketed as low latency, the performance is quite the opposite. There is noticeable delay, which makes it unsuitable for any real-time applications such as gaming or video calls. Poor Range: The range is extremely limited. I can’t move more than a few feet away from my PC without the connection becoming weak or completely dropping. Complicated Setup: The setup process is not straightforward. The driver installation was cumbersome, and I encountered several issues getting it to work correctly on my computer. Incompatibility Issues: The dongle does not work well with all devices. I faced multiple compatibility problems, especially with newer devices, which it should have supported seamlessly. Overheating: The dongle tends to overheat after a short period of use, which causes further connectivity issues and raises concerns about its durability and safety. Poor Customer Support: I reached out to customer support for help with the issues I was facing, but their response was slow and unhelpful. They did not resolve my concerns satisfactorily. Overall, the Maxuni USB Bluetooth 5.3 Dongle Adapter has been a huge letdown in terms of connectivity, latency, and overall performance. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable Bluetooth solution.

I keep needing to pull it out and back in again to reconnect my headphones and other devices
So I'm giving this three stars because I had a similar bluetooth USB dongle before this one (not as powerful) but I never needed to pull it out and back in again to reconnect my bluetooth speakers or bluetooth headphones... But I do with this one quite frequently. Ok.. I'm willing to accept it may be something else I'm not doing or haven't done. But it's odd. I could perhaps forgive if it was just one device, but it's at least two. So if I turn my Sony bluetooth headphones off and then later turn them back on again - It *might* reconnect. More often than not though, it won't. Once I pull this dongle out, wait a second and put it back in again, the headphones will autoconnect - So I'm not sure what that's about, but it's lost it two stars for me. Other than that, (once connected) I can walk around the room, much farther than I've done before with my previous dongle. Signal is quite powerful. I like it... but, could do without the hassle mentioned above.
