I have been waiting for the rain to hold up since I bought this last year. I have, or had, a very badly weathered black composite front door. It looked almost bleached in parts of the bottom panels and across the bottom. I was hoping that applying this polytrol would help a very shabby door look somewhat better. Without doubt, it has exceeded expectations. The door is glossy, and there are no white bits remaining. It even cleaned up the letterbox, handle and knocker. I applied it by brush first and then with a lint-free cloth, and I rubbed off the excess. I applied it in the morning when it was coolest and no direct sun. I was concerned that it would be a gloopy mess, especially since the temperature yesterday was so high and it was a little sticky into the evening. It was easy to apply and didn't drip. This morning I can see that some areas (the faux wood grain) where the weathering was so bad are a little lighter. I think rereading the instructions I could have left it a little longer (I probably left it 10 minutes working in sections) and worked into those areas a little more before wiping off. Definitely value for money. This was something I thought I'd try before reluctantly buying a new door - I really didn't want all the hassle that goes with it either. You only need a relatively small amount so I have loads of the tin left ready for the next time. I used it on the door furniture and the security lights, so very handy and versatile. An easy DIY project and very satisfying because it did work well.

Follow the instructions and the product is first class. Used to restore a black south facing composite front door . application by brush was easy leave to semi dry for 20 mins then wipe over to ensure no even application ( you can buff it up if your after a really shiny finish) . Allowed to fully dry for a further few hours and the finish is first class. A little goes a long way so bout I will have to buy again although I am looking at other items / areas that would benefit from an application.

Nice deep colour. definitely say it's durable. Absolutely stinks though. Not advisable to use on the car bumpers. Personally speaking. They looked great initially. Sadly the product reacted with my bumpers and peeling started. Not great. However, I used it on the front door and it was absolutely amazing. Really glossy an excellent results. I guess it depends on what your intention is. Application is relatively easy but just make sure to wear gloves.

Used this on my twenty year old GRP garage doors; they are not in bad condition, just faded by sunlight. The surface finish is a wood grain effect. I cleaned the doors with a detergent solution and allowed to dry. I was a little concerned about the instructions to “wipe off excess” before the product dries, so decided to use a brush for application, bearing in mind that it needed to be worked into the grooves of the grain effect. I used a 2” Dulux Perfect Finish paintbrush as it has very soft bristle tips. Poured a little Polytrol into a small plastic tray and set off! It was very easy to apply using just a small amount on the brush tips. I brushed out, spreading the product thinly until I could see that the brush needed reloading; this way, I managed to avoid runs and didn’t seem to leave excess product on the surface. Obviously, the product cannot “recolour” the surface, but the effect is immediate - the surface glows and the appearance much improved with the grain effect more pronounced - see photos. I’m really pleased with the results and carried on to use it on our composite front door, which also had become dulled from weather effects. The product dries over a couple of days in warm weather and does feel a little tacky at first, but it soon hardens off. A few tips; don’t apply in the sun, in the warmer weather think about all the bits and pieces that float around and might land on your handiwork. Although I applied it in the early morning, I raised the doors to the open position during the first afternoon to protect from sunlight and allow to dry slowly. I would estimate that I used about a third of a 500ml tin to cover two doors of approx 4.2 square metres each, which is far better coverage than the 19 square metres per litre advised on the tin. There are no instructions for brush cleaning, however I found that soaking the brush in a strong detergent solution overnight; just don’t plan on using the brush again for gloss paint, it might do a couple more times for Polytrol. I also tried the product on 30+ years old rainwater down pipes that had gone from black to light gray and was surprised to see a great improvement - see photos. Final top tip - if you intend to keep the leftover product, clean the cap and spout well and apply a bit of Vaseline to the spout threads, otherwise you’ll struggle to get it off in the future!

I used this on a very faded dark wood effect metal garage door (which I had intended to replace at significant cost) and faded matching plastic window sills. The results are fantastic and the garage door looks like new. I have yet to see how long it will last but I’m optimistic. As I’m impatient I used the product on a hot day in full sun which meant it became tacky quite quickly which was my fault and I wouldn’t do that again as using the cloth to wipe it became a bit sticky but even so I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. And I’ve still got loads left from a 0.5 litre tin.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent product for restoring faded plastic and trim. Very easy to apply and the results are impressive – it brings back the original colour and leaves a like-new finish. A little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts a long time. Highly recommended!

A "magic" paint. My composite brown door and UPVC windows looked weathered, really dry and discoloured. The paint was easy to apply and the door and windows look like new. I would recommend this paint.

Improves the appearance of sun weathered composite with a nice sheen but did nothing for scratches or bringing back original colour

This stuff did a fantastic job restoring my faded plastic garden chairs and table. It leaves absolutely zero sticky residue behind after you wipe it down and let it absorb completely. A little goes a very long way with this substance. You only need a tiny amount to cover a surprisingly large area if you rub it in carefully. My only real critique is the packaging. The spray version tends to waste way too much product into the air. Next time, I will definitely buy the regular canned version instead and apply it with a brush. It will give you much better control over where the product goes and save you from wasting any of it. It is an excellent product, but the liquid version is probably the smarter buy.

Génial ! Un produit qui a fait des miracles sur mon vieux salon de jardin tressé noir abîmé par les années ( ternes, gris, un peu peu vert), sur tous les plastiques et le bois. J’en rachèterais dès que mon bidon d’1 L sera fini. Il tient dans le temps, avec soleil et pluie. Je le recommande à 100 %. Bien suivre les instructions.

Finally found it! This is the product I have been searching for years. It restores many things but I tried it on my 40 year old Musket Brown Alcoa Aluminum down spouts ,soffit and fascia, Brown faded aluminum around my windows and trim around doors. Shines like better than new!! It has been on the aluminum for about 8 months and it hasn’t faded or showed any signs of peeling or yellowing. It is an oil like product that dries to a shine . I tried different application methods and for me the sponge paint brushes worked the best. Nice and smooth. Select the width depending on what you are using it on. I have a 1997 Gator and it’s always been garage kept but the green plastic showed its age. Shiny like new although obviously it doesn’t take out scratches in the soft plastic. This product is a game changer… between a plastic and rubber dressing and a clear paint. I am a happy camper and… a little goes a long way!
