can you wear this in the front

Absolutely, I bought it to use as a cross body bag to wear in front, to keep my phone, prescription sunglasses, wallet, passport, keys, rail pass etc easily accessed. I got it for travel and it's handy to have your gear at hand instead of swinging the bag around all the time. Plus, it frustrates the pickpockets! do yourself a favor and get one of the shoulder pads to go with it, even these small bags can dig into your shoulder after a few hours.

Does this have a quick adjustment retention so I can tighten or loosen it up on the fly if I need to take it on or off?

Not really. I can adjustment pretty quickly using the strap, but when I need to take it on or off quickly I use the buckle.

Is this a good option to conceal carrying to the gym? Can I run in this or is it to big?

I'm not sure if I'd want to do any extended running with the bag. It's not too big but the single sling might cause it to bounce too much. It'd be fine as a carry bag to the gym and to leave in locker when there. Check "pistolwear" if you're looking to carry and run.
