Ease that sticking piston.
Delonghi Magnifica Coffee Maker. Silicon sealsMy machine has worked well over the last few years but in recent months has made one or two unusual noises. The red press button diffuser is quite often removed for freshwater cleaning. I have noticed the sliding piston within its cylinder is sticking and becoming very difficult to move. This piston is mechanically moved by a screw rod at the back of the machine (which you can just see) and this compresses the ground coffee into the pellets eventually ejected. The piston seemed to be seizing in the cylinder. Time for a strip down. Fairly straightforward once realised it is the large grey plastic circlip at the bottom of the assembly that needs to be removed. Gently prise off with a small screwdriver and once released the very bottom (black) plug held by the clip can be eased off with careful screwdriver leverage. . Once done the whole long piston assembly can be removed. My problem was instantly recognised. There are two orange silicon rings within the grooves at the top of the assembly. These were badly stained in coffee grounds, had hardened thus causing sticking. Removed with a flat bladed screwdriver and the whole assembly thoroughly cleaned. The two new rings (two are required) ordered here easily slipped in place. A light smear of silicon grease on the rings and cylinder wall gave immediate improvement to the piston sliding. I am told that vegetable oil can be used although I have no personal experience. With the unit reassembled and clicked back in place the coffeemaker performs once again as expected. These silicon rings were the answer to a long needed overhaul. Ignore the wrong reference to Stainless Steel - mistake.

Easy fix
Official part at good price. Fairly easy to fit (though best to add some silicone grease too). Solves problem of machine ejecting wet coffee grinds instead of solid disc.

Good genuine parts.
Needed these to replace worn rings on our Delonghi machine. You can find them cheaper elsewhere, but I needed quick delivery and I am pretty sure these look genuine original parts to me, some other listings look a bit dodgy. You don't replace these very often, and they are obviously a key component in how well the machine operates, so it is not worth skimping on them. Don't forget if you are servicing a Delonghi machine, you will need 3 of these, 2 on the diffuser and one high up inside the machine on the fixed piston that fits in to the diffuser when it moves up. You will also need some silicone food-grade grease, such as OKS Multi Silicone Grease For the Care and Maintenance of Coffee Machines Food-Safe. It looks expensive for the amount you get, indeed it is, but you don't need much, and it is good stuff. Our 5 year old machine is now operating very smoothly again.

Fixed my faulty machine easily
My coffee machine was not working and I found the solution on youtube. Easily took apart the brewing assembly and fitted two new rings, with a bit of silicon grease. If memory serves cost was about £10 all together instead of £99 sending it back to delonghi. Happy Days
