I decided to try this 2-pack of generic DCA1820 adapters to transition my older 18V tools to modern 20V MAX lithium batteries. With my technical training in electronics, I wanted to rigorously test their electrical compatibility and mechanical performance. Here is my evaluation. Electrical Function and Performance: The adapter works flawlessly. The internal contact pins transmit power without noticeable voltage drops, allowing drills and saws to maintain constant power and leverage the benefits of lithium cells (without the memory effect of older batteries). ​🛠️ Mechanical Fit (Build Quality): ​Pros: The fit is surprisingly firm for a generic product. It "clicks" securely into both the tool and the 20V battery. There is no excessive wobble, which is vital to prevent disconnections during heavy-duty, high-vibration work. ​Cons: The ABS plastic feels slightly more rigid than OEM accessories. Be careful not to drop the tool directly on its base to avoid cracking the adapter. A mandatory and highly cost-effective upgrade to modernize your old tools. 100% recommended.

I have several 18v Dewalt tools and I kept buying 18v batteries for them but they just kept dying quickly on me. I bought these instead and used Dewalt 20v batteries with them. The 20v batteries fit perfectly and these fit all my 18v Dewalt tools. They fit perfect and they work well. Wish I had known about these before I bought all those 18v batteries. Would have saved me a lot of money.

These snap tightly into my older Dewalt tools and allow the use of the newer batteries. Works great and is a better investment than buying older style batteries to keep your old tools in use. Now I just use the modern batteries in everything. One problem I found is if you leave the batteries on these adaptors it will kill them DEAD. There must be a small current draw, it killed one of my batteries so dead it would not even start the charger, might be ruined. Use these but remove the batteries at the end of the day. EDIT - It looks like the USB power board in these is the battery killer. They must draw a small amount of current even when nothing is plugged in to them. I opened mine up and snipped the wires and removed the USB port completely, no more issues. For those that don't know, if you run one of these batteries down to absolute zero volts, the chargers will not recognize them and will not charge them. Usually if you leave them sit for a day they will recover enough to start the charging process. If not you can take a couple of wires and "jump start" them with another battery. Do a quick web search to find the specifics and be careful.

These fit the 18v drill a jigsaw perfectly. Smooth in and out and very smooth excepting the Dewalt battery pack. And the price was incredible. Shipping was quick. They arrived days before the batteries ordered at the same time from HomeDepot. Would definitely order again.

It works with 20v dewalt batteries, happy, I got the job done, the types of tools I use burn up batteries and then there dead, with this, its like I gave my sawzall and grinder a new life

Great replacement

I have a number of 18V Dewalt power tools, and the batteries have all been depleted, and I want to continue using them with the 20V batteries from my other Dewalt tools. This is a convenient way to convert the old 18V tools to operate with 20V batteries.
