Using it for watercolor painting and they work great! Affordable set & good quality.

I go college for art and my professors want professional grade materials. These are amazing. I'm currently using them with oil and they are soft to the touch but also stiff enough that they maintain their shape and work with my strokes. In other words, they're great because the artist has complete control over the brush - as it should be. They came in a nice plastic case that snaps shot, and each brush was individually wrapped in it's own plastic seal (which can be reused, I put my brushes back in it after). So far these brushes have been used in oil paint, gamsol, linseed, galykide, Palmolive soap, Dawn soap and hot water and they still have maintained shape and have not frayed or lost hairs. I also haven't experienced any chipping on the handle as I have with other brushes. They look high end and professional, my classmates assumed I spent over $30 for one brush. It's also difficult to tell that they are synthetic. One of my classmate's actually went out and ordered these for herself after checking my set out. I highly recommend this product for students and professionals. For beginners, the quality is pretty high, but for the price it's a steal. If you were in my position comparing brushes, definitely go for these.

I bought this set of filberts (flat brush with oval tips) while I was working on a leather painting project. I used acrylic paints, so I didn't want to ruin expensive, natural hair bristle brushes with the plastic residue that unavoidably builds up at the ferule. I think the quality of these brushes is quite nice– better than some of the craft brushes I own that were made by big-name companies. The handles are long, made for easel painting, so I may end up cutting them down, but that's just for my own use. The set contains a great selection of sizes. The tips are even and smooth, the nylon bristles are fine and springy. The brushes load well and feed the tips smoothly. The set comes in a sturdy lockable storage case, which is large enough that I can put ALL my other craft brushes in when I'm not using them- WIN! The description mentions makeup and face painting, and yes, these would be very good for that purpose. The bristles are silky smooth, and would not scratch delicate skin. They should probably be good at applying both creme and powder cosmetics. I have not used them for that, but I do own expensive cosmetic brushes, and they compare well in quality. Often with craft quality and entry level art brushes, I see shedding of bristles. No problems there, the ferules are tight and the bristles stay put! I would definitely recommend this set to anyone looking for good quality filberts. I think I may go for a set of liners next!

great brushes, firm and fine

Very good quality brushes.

I love the variety of widths of these brushes, and I also love the angle of the brush end. The synthetic brush bristles are soft without being limp, and they spring back pretty well with a lot of use. I use them for oil paints, but they would work extremely well with acrylic paints as well. I've even used them with some inks - just keep the brushes used with water-based media from getting mixed in with those you've used with oil paints, and you'll be fine. They also come in a handy case, but the real reason I buy them is their quality and the feel of the brush bristles - just what I like. I especially like the larger sizes.

I love these brushes. I wish they had a protector cap on the bristles & i wish that the handle was much shorter., because it is way too long for me. Very durable & no bristle loss.

Do yourself a favor and read up on exactly what brushes are needed for various types of media. There's no such thing as a multi-purpose brush when it comes to getting results with your art. I took a chance on these, knowing better the whole time, and was disappointed. First, it was obvious a couple have been used and cleaned already. I was okay with that if the brushes were great. If you're looking for a brush for media such as acrylic or oil, or gouache (I work a lot in the latter), don't get these. They're okay for watercolor because they hold a fair amount of water and pigment; however, but they are much too soft and lack the snap necessary for acrylic, oil, or gouache. Once they're wet, they are limp. I'm returning them. I noticed, too, they are identical to the brushes I bought the same day from with the exception of the printing on the handles. One thing I liked with this set was the plastic case that came with them. That was nice!

good for beginners & amature artist, product is good.

So pleased with these brushes. Have used every day and they keep their shape. No stray hairs. They have improved my art. Love even more, painting hair. You'll know what I mean when you try them. The medium I use is water mixable oil. I think they would be suitable for other mediums.
