Best D-link camera to get for indoor use
Works great, the color isn’t as vibrant as the previous models but it makes up for it in a sharper much more detailed image, must be higher megapixels same resolution. It works great, and the color black is better doesn’t reflect as much if placed on a window ledge looking out into the yard.

Very good product
I'm happy enough with this product that I bought a second one. I use them periodically when I'm out of town. I have great control of them from my phone or computer. Sound is clear enough to hear conversations and they pick up motion and people with high sensitivity. You can restrict the field of view for detection. When I have them set to take photos when motion is detected, the photos are loaded onto the micro SD disk (bought separately) that can be viewed remotely. The night vision is ok but not great. I had another similar D-Link camera for probably 10 years that was still going strong, but became obsolete when they stopped supporting it. These new ones had several upgraded features so I was ok with that situation. Their complimentary telephone support is good for setting up the camera if needed, but it's chinsy since it is only good for 3 months after purchase, then you have to pay for it. You need to register the product (a painful process, could be much simpler) before you get access to their support. The product I'd give 5 stars, the support and process 3 stars.

Very disappointed
The D-Link 8526 is complete junk and needs to be recalled by D-Link. I’ve owned a D-Link 8525 for years and it worked great but that model was discontinued so I ordered the 8526 to add as a 2nd camera. The problems started once motion detection automation was enabled. The motion detection would record 4-5 videos of the same motion and every video had a weird “crunching” sound. I then pointed the camera at a wall with zero motion and it would still trigger motion alerts every few minutes. I noticed in the videos that the camera seemed to be trying to auto-focus on the wall and each time that would trigger an alert. When it comes to actual real motion alerts, it never goes off. My cat could literally walk into the camera and I wouldn’t get an alert. This camera has some big technical or software issues (or both). EDIT: The replacement 8526 camera that I received has the exact same issues of false-positive motion detections. As of today I have gotten 9 motion detection alerts in a room with zero motion. In each video it looks like the camera is trying to focus and it triggers an alert. Plus, a semi truck would need to drive by to trigger a real alert. Returning the replacement camera as well. EDIT #2: I bought another D-Link 8225 from Amazon renewed and it is working PERFECTLY, just as my original 8525 does. It's pretty clear that the 8526 was a defective design, whereas the 8525 is solid.

Works great at night and during the day!
We have had trouble with someone coming to our house and causing issues. This works great inside and we also left it on our porch chair just in case they came to the front door. It was covered so it didn't get rained on. It caught a lot of deer outside our front door. We didn't even realize we had that many in our neighborhood! LOL

Good value, easy to use
I have 4 of these D-Link cameras now, and all are very good. I have 2 outside and 2 inside. Very simple to set up on the app, literally a few minutes and you are up and running. All features work well, you'll need to fiddle with the sensitivity and window for detection but other than that they are set it and forget it. Very good camera and feature set for the money. Will be getting more.

It's not an IP camera
I was looking for an IP Camera for software testing at work. This model seemed to meet most of my customer's requirements. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect to it without the use of D-Link's software. It did what it was supposed to do more or less and would probably be sufficient for most people. However, these were the limitations that it had that were deal breakers for me: Spent a couple hours trying to figure out how to to crack it and connect to VLC media player, to use as an IP Camera. I was unsuccessful. Attempted to request support on the matter from D-Link and was ultimately told it's not an IP Camera and there was no way to connect to an RTSP endpoint. The camera turns itself off after five minutes. There is no way around it. It is designed so that if it detects motion it automatically turns itself on and starts recording. This is actually probably pretty cool for most people. It just didn't meet my needs. I was looking for a continuous stream The motion detection often did not notice when I walked in or out of the room. The system's behavior seemed to be that the first quick movement might wake it up. And then if it noticed a second movement soon after it would start recording. Seems like if you really were concerned about capturing what happened you would want that first alert, as well. It had about 1-2 seconds of latency between moving and the movement displaying on the screen. It doesn't zoom, but only pans and tilts. I was looking for zoom as well. Image quality was pretty good, and for most home users, this would probably be a good choice. HOwever for my requirements it missed the mark. Ultimately I ended up getting a Reolink E1 Zoom. I am able to connect to it via VLC media player. Reolink's site even gives you instructions on how to do it. Verdict is still out on the Reolink's reliability, but for my needs, so far, it was a better choice.

I love this camera. It works exactly as advertised. It follows people around so it doesn’t miss a moment. Then it goes back to the home position after the subject goes out if view. I highly recommend it.

Have two of these and one looses wifi connection more than it should. Needs to be rebooted too often. Would not buy again

After Telus ripped me off for $400 on their crappy stationary camera and security package, I dropped them and bought two of these DLink cameras. Not only can you store content on MicroSD or Cloud, but the picture quality is excellent and they *PAN*. Robust software too, so you can control many options of what to record and when and follow a target, etc. Terrific value for the money. Telus? Not so much.
