Anatomy in Black is a sophisticated coffee table book for anatomy lovers. It illustrates the beauty of human anatomy reflected in a contemporary hardback book, created entirely in black and gold. Traditional anatomical imagery is given a new lease of life through modern interpretation in this stylish publication. The book comprehensively leads the reader through the human body in seven chapters dedicated to each area of the human body. It covers the same level of detail and content with each illustration as a standard academic anatomy book. A thorough evaluation of each anatomical part is conveyed in double page spreads with summary text to put the area in context and explain some of the more complicated anatomical terminology and function for those encountering anatomy for the first time. This makes this book a perfect companion for those interested in anatomy, regardless of their previous knowledge of the subject matter. Review: A beautiful and informative book - Not only is this book a work of art that will look perfect on your coffee table, it is also very informative. I've been teaching upper limb anatomy to medical students for several years now, and these are amongst the clearest and most enlightening illustrations I have seen. The complexity of the human body, captured beautifully using just two colours - it's superb. Review: Your body looks great! - Every time I pick this up, I learn something new/recall a long-forgotten fact - simply because I don't think I'm picking up an anatomy book when I am. Instead I think I'm picking up something that'll be a simple, pretty pleasure to leaf through. It's as enjoyable to look at as 'Anatomy of the horse' by Stubbs!

Beautiful yet a bit disappointing...
It is a beautiful book, however I feel the binding really lets it down which is such a shame. I had my eye on this book for a long time and was so excited when it arrived but my heart sank a bit when I opened it and saw the white of the pages (shown in photo) and it looks as if they pages are ready to come away. A real shame but I do love having it on my coffee table and the graphics are beautiful.

Beautifully illustrated book.
Beautiful book bought for my son who is doing a Masters in Research in Biomed. I trained as a medical illustrator and the book more than lived up to my expectations and felt much more than a reference book, almost a coffee table book due to its beautiful black and gold colouring. Love it!

I absolutely loved this beautiful intricate book that is now proudly sat on my coffee table. The illustrations are absolutely stunning and a delight to the eye. Emily Evan's attention to detail, combined with great design makes every illustration an amazing artwork in itself.

Begeisterung pur

Pretty but mis-printed... Edit: New Copy appears to be corrected, beautiful!
Update: Review changed from 2 to 5 stars because the publisher sent me a copy that was correctly printed and appears to be completely correct and beautiful. Their response was rapid and kind - great customer service! Original Post: This is an absolutely breathtaking anatomy book, but for whatever reason, there does not seem to be much quality control in the printing process. It's printed using two plates - one for the gold illustrations and one for the white text - but someone forgot to check whether the correct plates are being used for each page. I didn't notice it at first, but nearly every other page has the wrong combination of white and gold plates, with gold facial structures have white vertebral tags for example. Two sections repeat as well. Overall, this is a pretty coffee table book, but cannot be used for legitimate medical reference, which is a shame given how wonderful it looks! I will be asking the published for another copy that is properly printed.

Love!
I bought this as a gift for my sister in law, who is a medical student. She loves all things black and her apartment is full of black decor. She was in love with this and appreciated the diagrams for their accuracy! She was showing it to everyone the whole weekend - definitely a hit!

Beautiful book
Great quality. My boyfriend and I are chiropractic students and it is the perfect coffee table book. The pictures are very cool and the gold contrast with the black pages is very unique. Perfect for anyone who loves anatomy
