Diamond Cross 8 inch Stone fine/coarse

Initial impressions are that this thing is as good as its reputation.First, this is not a stone it's a steel plate, thick and substantial. In the box are good non-slip rubber mounts for the plate, attached to the plate by magnets. There is also a cleaning rubber for the plate and a neat pouch to store and carry it all in. These are nice touches that I was unaware of when I bought it, I just bought it as I have heard it recommended by so many people.In fairly short order I was able to put a razor edge on my 1/4 inch chisel, one that allowed me to shave a few hairs off the back of my hand. I was able to get it that sharp before, but never as quickly and as easily as I did today. If this thing lasts I will be very happy with it, if not I'll come back and edit this review.Certainly a five star addition to your sharpening kit.

This works well and the rubber feet make it quite stable on the bench.So far only sharpened a plane and a chisel so can't comment on life however the edges are good and the results better than an old oil stone.It is a nice width for most plane irons.The advantage of this sharpener is it won't go hollow with wear.

Expensive, but also very good.

I was very disappointed with the build quality of this item, I have purchased many tools from Trend and generally been pleased, but this time no, the item is built in three layers and mine was just not up to the manufacture standard that I have come to expect from Trend, I immediately got in touch with Trend and they have instructed me to return it direct to them, this was to be a birthday present for two days time that is now not going to happen.

I work as a bench joiner and bought this to replace my old oil stone. I have used it to sharpen all my chisels and am very happy with it.

great out of the packet product. I put a new edge on a damaged sabatier knife, renewed the bevel on my chisels and sharpened x2 plane blades for new block planes. However, that not very long list of use has worn out the surface of the 300 grit. It now cuts very poorly to the point of being useless. The 1000 grit is reasonably ok for polishing still but I have little confidence that this will last. I used with trend lapping fluid as suggested and I was careful on the force used. No longevity makes this poor for anything other than occasional and not too heavy use

After the first use, one of the magnets on the support stand fell out, rendering it useless. I might as well have just thrown my money away.Trend used to be associated with decent quality, not any more.Do not buy..... You will be disappointed.
