Can this be used as a wifi extender ?

I am using it as Gateway and use an older router for extension via Ethernet cable. Why one would want to use a SIM based router as extension?

Will it work on Virgin Home internet? Any config to be done

yes it works with any sim card, you need to manually enter the right APN configuration for your service provider
