Well-made and sturdy
I read a lot of the reviews here before deciding to buy this. As usual, most if not all of the bad reviews are because of user error. Some claim that it can't handle heavier things like soda cans. As soon as I unpacked it, I tested it by grabbing a 20-ounce jar of applesauce with it. No problem. I suspect they tried to use the tips of the jaws instead of the rubber-lined throat. Would you handle a wine bottle with your fingertips, or would you wrap your fingers around it? I next grabbed a one-pound box of dry pasta and it did fine. Some claim that the jaws don't open very wide. My ruler reads 3.75 inches. How much wider do you really need? And there's always the problem of leverage. If you want the jaws to open wider, either you'll have to accept having to squeeze further or squeeze harder. There's no free lunch. You have to sacrifice travel or gripping power. Basic physics. Another complaint is that they couldn't get out cans that were tightly packed on a shelf. You wouldn't be able to squeeze your fingers around them either. Try leaving some space between the cans. They claim it's too heavy. My scale says it's a whopping 9.5 ounces, or a little over a half pound. Less than a can of soda. Another person complained that the jaws don't rotate on the shaft. It took me five seconds to figure it out. They're normally fixed so you don't have to worry about them twisting when you're trying to grab a heavier item. But just pull the jaw assembly out a little bit and it rotates easily, then you can turn it in 90º increments. There is even a small instructional graphic on the jaw assembly: 1) Pull, 2) Twist. Someone else said the magnet is only strong enough to pick up paper clips. I was able to lift a 15mm box end Crescent wrench with mine. Must be some pretty big paper clips. Way too many people complaining that it was broken in shipping. Then take advantage of Amazon's free exchange instead of whining. Others say it's not ergonomic and takes a strong grip. The pistol handle is the most ergonomic you could ask for, especially with the inverted trigger that takes advantage of the stronger index and middle fingers. I suspect those folks are gripping it at the bottom of the handle. The "wings" on the sides are supposed to rest on top of your index finger and thumb. I wish the thin-gauge steel shaft was longer, but the 32" reach is still pretty useful. And the one-piece shaft is actually not a bad thing. That makes it stiff and there's no play from joints working loose. I was relieved to find that the hanging hole at the end of the shaft does in fact swivel. The product photos always showed that hole aligned with the pistol grip, so I was afraid that that was a fixed position. I can hang it up flat against the wall and not have the handle sticking out.

IF YOU HAD KNEE SURGERY RECENTLY THIS IS THE GRABBER YOU WANT. IT MAKES LIFE EASIER.
I have just had total knee replacement surgery. Believe me when I say this grabber tool is the best investment I could have made to aid in my recovery. I am reminded daily how versatile it is for reaching objects when you are confined to a bed or lounge chair. It has helped me reach: TV REMOTES , SHEETS OF PAPER DROPPED ON FLOOR BOTTLE CAPS DISTANT URINAL BOTTLES INDIVIDUAL PILLS DROPPED ON THE FLOOR KLEENEX HEAVY 1 LITER WATER BOTTLES MULTI DAY PILL BOXES PENS AND PENCILS EXTENTION CORDS MOBILE PHONES CHARGER CABLES The large grip trigger is very comfortable to use. There is even a tiny magnet embedded in one grip finger to help with tiny metal objects although I have not used that function yet. As for build quality my engineering background allows me to recommend this grabber with 100% confidence. Do not worry about the nay sayers. This device will do the job!

Good quality
I go the regular one and almost returned it bc I thought I had ordered the plus model. Decided to keep it and glad I did bc this thing is strong. I use a ♿️ so use grabbers regularly. I've broken a few of the cheap ones picking up shoes of the floor. I've had this for 2 months and can tell it'll last bc it's one solid tube and the grabbing part goes pretty deep into the tube unlike the cheap ones. The handle isn't the softest and the grabbing twists easily but those are minor things tbh.

Sturdy long grabber
The longer length is great but this grabber is a little harder to use than others. Still, it’s strong and fits my needs for the place I use it. It came in a box big enough for a dozen grabbers though

My Experience? This Grabber is Awesome
I will have had this Grabber for 2 years this November. I have used it on a regular basis and it has proven invaluable to me. For reasons I won't go into I often need to reach something that is either on the floor or on a shelf etc. and it has worked without issue every time. The tips of the jaws fit together tightly and with the rubber added I can pick up a piece of paper or something like a water bottle cap off the floor. I have also retrieved things like a 28oz bottle of Sriracha sauce (Huy Fong is the BEST!) off of a shelf. If the diameter of the item you are trying to retrieve is large enough for the jaws to fit tightly around it, you can lift it and bring it into your grasp or set it down on a table or shelf. But only squeeze as tightly as is needed to keep it from slipping out of the grasp of the grabber, if you put the gorilla grip on it I can see that this might possibly cause the jaw/s to break. Use finesse not brute force. Also when I'm sitting in my chair I cut up boxes for recycling and this grabber will fit around a stack of cut up pieces and I can deposit them in the recycling container near by. These are just some of the ways in which I have used this grabber. And while it is extremely useful for those who have issues standing or bending over I can see that this item would be useful to a healthy person. Have you ever had to get down on your hands and knees to retrieve something from under your desk? Or did you poke at it with a yard stick until it came within reach? I have a metal filing cabinet that sits next to my desk. And no matter how small you try and make the gap between the two, something will fall down in between. So again you can poke at the item with a yardstick and try and slowly free the item...or you can use this grabber to snag it. Donezo! I paid $18 for this grabber and I saw that at one time the price went up to $39. I would pay this price if need be. This grabber is that valuable to me. I can't speak to the issues that some who have left 1 star reviews have had. I don't doubt what they have said. If the plastic jaws break, that's that, you won't have a good impression about this grabber. But unless there was a manufacturing defect in the plastic it's hard for me to see how the jaws could break unless you used this to whack someone over the head or it impacted another hard object (There are few objects harder than some peoples' head). I often wait until I've had an item for a while before I write a review. And so far this grabber has stood the test of time for me and as I said, I would gladly pay twice the price I paid in the beginning. If you get one of these, have fun grabbing!

Sturdy enough, and ergonomic, and without any great issues. Bonus point for rotating hook at the end so you can mount it on the wall either way. They are slightly expensive considering what you get, there are better deals on here; on somewhat more sturdy grappers. But I don't think anyone will be unhappy with these.

Super helpful for anyone with reduced flexibility: not just for picking things up, but is seriously the magic tool for being able to get your own clothes on, while recovering from hip replacement.
