I did not think previous effort 'Here and Nowhere Else' was particularly interesting (except 'I'm Not Part of Me' which is a perfect song) after listening 'Attack on Memory' to death. However, this new effort is almost as good as 'Attack'. Literally every song has a killer hook and is as good as the last on this album. Songs like 'Enter Entirely' and 'Things are Right' ware impossible to get out of your head, because these guys just know how to write great aggressive rock/pop songs. Can't recommend enough! In the interest of balance...
The other review here is clearly not a reflection of how good this album is. I did not think previous effort 'Here and Nowhere Else' was particularly interesting (except 'I'm Not Part of Me' which is a perfect song) after listening 'Attack on Memory' to death. However, this new effort is almost as good as 'Attack'. Literally every song has a killer hook and is as good as the last on this album. Songs like 'Enter Entirely' and 'Things are Right' ware impossible to get out of your head, because these guys just know how to write great aggressive rock/pop songs. Can't recommend enough!

Se amate la musica di Dylan e i suoi sodali, non abbiate timore ed avvicinatevi a questo nuovo capitolo, superiore al precedente Here And Nowhere Else e che si avvicina a quell'Attack On Memory che, per me, resta il loro capolavoro. Siccome anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte, raccomandato il vinile colorato in edizione limitata.

Welche Bands fallen einem ein, wenn man an amerikanischen Indie-Rock denkt? In erster Linie Dinosaur Jr., Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, Modest Mouse. Und in 20 Jahren? Dann wird man hoffentlich in einem Atemzug auch die Cloud Nothings nennen. Denn die wollen einfach seit nunmehr fünf Jahren keine schlechten Alben abliefern. "Attack on Memory" brauchte ein paar Anläufe, um seine spröde Schönheit zu entfalten, "Here and Nowhere Else" war ein Instant-Hit-Album und schwer zu übertreffen. Das hat die Band mit "Life Without Sound" auch nicht geschafft, sondern sie stagniert - auf höchstem Niveau. Allein wegen der Trias aus "Enter Entirely", "Modern Act" und "Sight Unseen" hätte das Album schon seine fünf Sterne verdient: ersteres ist ein kleines, komplexes Indie-Rock-Meisterwerk, zweites die Hitsingle der Platte und letzteres einfach ein wunderschöner Pop-Song mit Death Cab for Cutie - Referenzen. Leider gibt es diesmal auch eher durchschnittliche Songs ("Darkenend Rings", "Strange Year"), aber der ungewöhnliche Einstieg mit Klavier in "Up to the Surface" und die Noise-Attacke "Realize My Fate" wiegen diesen Umstand locker auf. Insgesamt ist den Nothings wieder einmal ein sehr gutes Album gelungen, das man immer wieder an einem Stück durchhören kann - ob im Auto, nebenbei oder in Ruhe über Kopfhörer. Dabei kann man natürlich auch die Texte mitlesen (und -singen), denn die sind im Digipack der CD abgedruckt. Kaufen und unterstützen! Besseren Indie-Rock wird es 2017 wohl kaum geben! nicht so gut wie die beiden vorgängeralben. weder die hitqualität von "attack on memory" - mit ausnahme von "modern act" - noch die dreckige abgründigkeit von "here and nowhere else" wird erreicht. trotzdem immer noch ein ziemlich geiles album!
