Shadow Over Westongrove Manor

Lots of fun - we played this virtually and it worked perfectly. There is an occasion where it states a certain character is to read from the booklets the host will have, works perfectly fine if the host just reads this.For novices this is a great starter into murder mysteries. For those that have played before, there isn't that much role play but no reason why you can't add your own twists, my sister and her boyfriend added accents and went all out on costumes which they thoroughly enjoyed meanwhile I threw on a random outfit 15 minutes prior to playing.

The game proved a great success with all our players. There are too few games that can be played by just five players (as a minimum) but this is one and it worked very well (two female roles and three male). We spent nearly four hours over the game eating a three course meal between 'rounds'. It's certainly wise to make sure each player has received their brief beforehand to give them time to familiarise themselves with their 'story' and ideally attend dressed in character. Great fun!

Well put together - we had a fun evening! We were 6 adults and I gave out the booklets a few days before. It was well split down into sections and the characters were well explained. My only criticism was that it said male characters could be played by females and vice versa but this didn’t work that well. It would be better if it was made clear which characters could be either.

Played this on NYE with friends. We enjoyed it so much, many twists in the story and all had a good laugh. Took me a while to find the right murder mystery and I’d definitely recommend this one!

This was bought for a Christmas Eve game for the family. It was enjoyable and generally well designed. There are a few problems however which detract from the game design which the manufacturers could easily remedy. The premise is that the culprit has motive, means and opportunity just like an episode of death in paradise. There was though too much emphasis on sexual motives, clandestine affairs between characters. This was a bit over played and unnecessary, the designers could use other motives and families could then involve younger family members without embarrassment or having to "censor" some of the scenarios. Secondly, the instructions say that named male or female characters can be played by additional p[layers of the opposite sex. Because of the emphasis on sexual motive this doesn't work.

Read a lot of reviews for other murder mysteries and decided to use this one (having read reviews on Amazon Germany and looked at their website) for my partners birthday party.The game arrived promptly and is very neatly designed. Everything was explained in a very clear way - from sending out character booklets, to menu for the night, to the actual way to set out the evening.The mystery was super good and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely - I cannot recommend this mystery or brand enough. We're already planning to do another!Thank you Culinario Mortale for making it a great night!!!!!

This was our first Murder Game from this company and it proved to be an excellent game. The customer service was excellent when we contacted them to find out how many female characters would be in the 7 player version. We chose this game because unlike other games, the number of players is flexible but you do not know who the 'extra' characters are. Very good evenings entertainment - and no-one guessed the murderer! Highly recommended.

Have done two of these and they are always great fun. The o my reason I didn’t rank 5 on this one as we played with 8 people and 2 of the characters may as well not have been included as their ‘secret’ wasn’t the most interesting.But I understand as you have to cull certain characters in order for it to serve a variety of group sizes.Would definitely order another game from here.
