Pelican Marine Phone Case for iPhone 8 Plus and 7 Plus (Clear/Black)

Good case for the $$$. Arrived in a reasonable amount of time, retail packaging that was very well protected inside the shipping box with bubble wrap. Ive owned another Pelican case for my previous i6+, and that case was fantastic. No experience dropping the phone since installing this case, so thats the reason for 4 stars on the sturdiness and durability ratings. I have no doubt it will shine in those areas as well.When installing, just follow the simple directions and you should have no issues. I did have to remove and re-install the case once due to the “mute” button hanging up on the case side while snapping the two halves together. Just make sure your phone is sitting all the way flat before snapping together as the two halves can be difficult to unsnap. ( Not a bad thing ).I can hear and be heard just fine. Not sure why some others have had an issue there.Nice slightly raised ridge around the edges mean you can lay down your phone on a flat surface without scratching the screen protector.

I am changing this product review. The reason: the first customer representative at Pelican was not very customer service oriented. The first rep never called me back and did not process any type of return for me. I entered a new request and called from a different phone number and Deneeka was very clear in her message plus helped clearly explain the problem. She left out any personal issues and treated me as a customer. Because she clearly represented her company's values. I had wondered how a company that has been established since 1976 would treat customers the way that the first rep treated me. Denneka should be commended and be put in a leadership position. The case itself works. However, amazon has been selling this product as for an iPhone 6 plus and 6s when it is not guaranteed. I will contact amazon since Pelican made them aware. I will receive a replacement but will receive the case for the 6plus. If this is as good as the one I bought, I recommend it. It has the same issue that most good waterproof cases have - you need a bluetooth or a plugged in headset to talk but it is worth it. I'll post more once I see what amazon does about refunding me for the difference in price between what i purchased and what I am getting back from the lifetime warranty from Pelican.

I bought this for my daughter and it damaged her 8 plus iPhone screen after a single fall. Brand new phone that she purchased herself! The crazy part is that the case is still in good shape. Great protection. Did they actually do the drop test with a phone in it! This was 100% waste of money and they don’t offer a guarantee. Wonder why? We are going back to otter box.

This is a great competitor for lifeproof cases, maybe is not that great, but still much better than those generic waterproof ones, and not that expensive as lifeproof. I’ve been struggling with audio (hearing and being heard) of several cases and this is the one that has the best sound quality on phone calls, facetime, and speaker mode. Feels very sturdy and durable. Does not affect any buttons or screen functions. I just recommend cleaning well the inner surface of back plate before installing, because it comes with a warning sticker on it and when removing it, it sort of left a glue stain or something on it. Overall, very pleased with this purchase. Best value for the money.

This is a rock solid case from a rock solid brand, Pelican. I'm notoriously hard on my devices and this case has saved my device, on several occasions. However, the cover for the charging port has room for improvement. It's likely to snap off after a little while. The hinge mechanism is sticky and doesn't swing away to a convenient distance from the charging port it covers. So, if you're like me, it's probably going to snap off. When it does, the case won't be water proof any more. It will still have rock solid armor for your phone and protect it from hard handling, but it won't be water proof anymore because water can enter through the uncovered charging port. If you're lucky enough to retrieve the broken off charging port cover, you can still use the cover and it will likely seal and keep water out, but since it's no longer attached to the case, prolly going to lose it. Other than that little thing, I would recommend this case to my friends. Just keep an eye out for the charging port cover, and use care when removing it for charging.

I have had very low volume since installed the case, whether for phone or music use. Also the rubber edging is coming off. Only made the purchase in May2019. Will try to see how well the “lifetime” warranty works.

The only case my other half will use on his phones. His older phone still looks brand new in this case. Awesome product

As far as a protective case goes, this one is fine, if you want to hear the speaker and make calls in an area with background noise, do not buy. The volume on the speaker is reduced by at least 75% and I would say it is even more like 80%. I seldom hear the phone ring or alert for text messages. On speaker for calls I often have to hold the phone up close to my ear, it is a terrible design from that perspective. I am tempted to cut the case open at the speaker of the iPhone, it would destroy the water proof feature but the frustration from not being able to hear is pushing the limit. If you use blue tooth for calls, then this case would protect the phone. The built in screen protector takes some patience as it does not always make contact with the screen on the phone.
