Yes. I installed mine in a Rogue guitar, works great

Q: Why is there no power switch ?

No, there is not. It is my only real complain about it. I have left a bettery in a while and it seems to lose very little to no power when not played and the volume down so maybe that's the idea, volume at zero = off? Anyway, someone answered and said "doesn't matter the pickups are junk"... well, that has nothing to do with the preamp... the preamp is absolutely wonderful, at any price. With a pair of nice transducers my lyre harp sounds like it has an expensive preamp. The pickups are free starter pickups and don't reflect the capability of the preamp.

I measured from outside corner to outside corner,,, 4 inches long ...1 3/4 inches wide.... thats for the top mounting plate... the battery holder and control box is aprox 1/4 inch smaller on all sides

I'm not exactly sure about your question; However, it takes a 9 volt battery to power the preamp .... the amps it puts out depends on your choice of each control ... after that its all on your main amp ... beware of the feedback ... mostly because you are too close to your amp ... or maybe facing the amp (the pickup can hear itself .. causing the feedback ,, I hope this answer helps .. i placed 2 of these in my flat-top guitars.. and they do quite well for my purpose
