What’s the average life span of these lamps

Hi Sulahaka. I can't say exactly what the life span of these lamps are, but can tell you I've had mine several years now and they are in use on and off for a long time over every Christmas period. They are a very low light, just like a candle, very cheap to run and look lovely amongst other Christmas lights and decorations. A good quality product and well worth buying. Hi Betty!, To answer your question fully, I can tell you that these 3 watt flickering candle bulbs are available in E27 Edison screw (large 27mil) and E14 Edison screw (small 14 mil) and also in normal type of bayonet bulb (large 27mil). They are a lovely low light with an orange/red flicker and best seen in a lowly lit room and visible to the eye without being covered by a shade, but a glass shade or surround is fine. Several of them in a room ordained with Christmas decor would look great. They are good quality, long lasting, very cheap to run, do not get hot to the touch and excellent value for money. can you put them in a electric fire to replace my old bulbs

I wouldn't think so. These lamps are for effect only and give off very little light. They are rated at 3W so give of very little heat. As a comparison the old red 'fireglow' bulbs were usually 60W and the heat given off was often utilised to create the flame effect by rotating spinners located above them. Hope that's helpful.

All pictures show bulb pointing up (ie the screw fitting at the bottom) will it still flicker if the bulb is pointing down ?

I can't see any technical reason why this will not work in any orientation. Might look a little odd though - upside down candle?!
