I was really expecting to send these back as not fit for purpose. I had to pick my son up from a ski training week in Switzerland the day before I travelled I looked at the webcams in resort and there seemed to be more lying snow than normal. I have chains for my normal car but its off the road so I had to take another car I had bought to tide me over whilst me normal car is repaired. So I ordered these on Amazon Prime as a just in case thinking I'd send them back if I didn't need them and mainly to appease my wife! I got to resort without issue and had to cover two miles or so down a snow covered road along the valley to get to my accommodation it was mid afternoon on arrival and the snow was soft and slushy so no problems on the half worn summer rated ditch finders on the car. The next morning though the snow had frozen and the car had sunk in whilst parked. I rocked it back and forth and managed to get two feet from where I started. I couldnt climb out of my ruts and I was getting close to sliding into the car parked next to me. So I broke out the snow socks. The car I took was a citroen xantia so I raised the suspension to the top and there was loads of room around the tyre. I had both socks fitted within a minute. I moved the car forward a foot and fitted them the rest of the way. I was still highly sceptical. Any way I hopped in and selected reverse and lifted the clutch I climbed out the rut without any wheelspin at all. I then drove back the two miles along the snow covered road with far more grip than Id had the night before and I found I could stop much quicker. When I got back into the main village the roads were clear but I knew they wouldnt be at the cable car station car park at the top of the hill. Being lazy I left the socks on for the mile or so on gravel littered tarmac. The carpark was sheet ice but I drove up and into a space with minimal fuss. On returning to the car later in the afternoon I reversed out of the space and drove up the 15% gradient from a standing start on ice with only a little wheelspin. I dont think I could have moved at all without the socks. Once back down in the village I removed the socks for the journey home. I was impressed to find that the socks were filthy but undamaged after a mile and a half on rough tarmac. I'll be ordering more for my other car they are so easy compared to chains and they work just as well. I wouldnt expect them to last as long as chains but for the cost, small size and weight they are worth having in the car as they will be the difference between getting home and a chilly wait.

I ordered this snow socks before our trip to Scotland. It was so snowy there and I was terrified. I decided to get them in last minutes so was so happy when I received them so quickly. We didn't have to use them so if something will be wrong I will upgrade the review. As far I happy about the product.
