You should secure them with one of those small, clear backings that you get with cheaper, fashion jewelry. Also, you may know by the price, but it is not solid gold. They are gold plated and will fade over time. I think they are plated over stainless steel and not silver either, so be aware if you have allergies or sensitivity.Overall, still a nice earring. I wear everyday and sleep in them (because I've secured the backing) and they didn't start to fade until about 5 months. That's a long time compared to others. I'd purchase again when discounted.
