62 % solution of Red Bull, but 76 % as expensive
47 mg of caffeine in 8 oz of ACUTEfruit Tropical Blast is the equivalent of 1/3 cup of coffee, 59 % of Red Bull at 80 mg, 138 % of Mountain Dew at 34 mg, and 224 % of Coke at 21 mg. 47 mg per 8 oz equals 70.5 mg per 12 oz and thus 127 % of Pepsi One at 55.5 mg, 153 % of diet Coke at 46 mg, and 172 % of Dr. Pepper at 41 mg.Tropical Blast is sweeten with the healthiest sugar - maltodextrin. Its 70 calories equals 64 % of Red Bull and Mountain Dew at 110 cal, and 78 % of Coke at 90 cal. 70 cal per 8 oz equals 105 cal per 12 oz and thus 70 % of Dr. Pepper at 150 cal. Thus, Tropical Blast is 62.5% solution of Red Bull, but 76 % as expensive ($0.19 vs. $0.25/oz).It also contain vitamins, which are good, as well as taurine, glucuronolactone, guarana, inositol, choline, and yerba mate. A review published in 2008 concluded that "[t]he amounts of guarana, taurine, and ginseng found in popular energy drinks are far below the amounts expected to deliver either therapeutic benefits or adverse events".Glucuronolactone is an important structural component of nearly all connective tissues. It is claimed without proof to detoxify the body, but is harmless according to the European Food Safety Authority. High doses of inositol may remedy severe psychiatric problems.Choline is found in sunflower, soy, cod fish, broccoli, cauliflower, milk, chicken, etc. Endurance athletes and people who drink a lot of alcohol may be at risk for choline deficiency and may benefit from choline supplements.Yerba does contain polyphenols, which may benefit the immune system, relieve allergies, reduce the risk of diabetes and hypoglycemia in mice. Its other compounds burn more calories, act as an appetite suppressant and weight loss tool, increase the supply of nutrients and oxygen to the heart, may reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, increase mental energy and focus, improve mood, and promote a deeper sleep.

Nice Taste - Especially When Consumed Ice Cold
I'm not a user of energy drinks, having purposely stayed away from them because I did not want to experience what I've long suspected would end up being just a quick spike in energy that would dissipate just as quickly, leaving me feeling worse than I would have by simply avoiding the drink in the first place. That said, after reading the details on this Acute drink, everything seemed either relatively benign, or even beneficial, so my curiosity got the best of me.I can now report that I enjoyed the drink as an early morning part of my drive to the office each of the last few days. My first impression of the drink is that it tastes good, as you would suspect from the fact that it is a nice blend of fruit concentrates that make up 50% of its volume. Just as importantly, it is not jam-packed with caffeine (coming in at slightly less caffeine than the average soft drink, in fact) and sugar. It is also not just a can of calories since there are only 70 calories per can. What it is jam-packed with is vitamins, lots of them. So, I like the taste and the content of the drink and I find it to be something that I would prefer in the place of a can of soda on most occasions. The problem was that I do not experience much of an energy-bump at all after drinking a can of ACUTEfruit. (Admittedly, that's probably because I consume so much caffeine on a daily basis already that it would be hard for a drink of this blend to jumpstart me in the morning.)I think this product will affect different people at different levels of energy-increase. That's something that you need to test for yourself. There's certainly nothing in the taste or vitamin count that should scare you away from it. Give it a shot...

I know nuthin’ bout’ health benefits or perils
I’m sure there will be loads of reviews that analyze and dissect all of the information available in the product profile above, the manufacturer’s website, with corroborating or contrasting statistical data and nutritionist’s opinions. That’s not my style. My obese personal physician gave up long ago and just shakes his head stating “Well, keep on doing whatever it is you’re doing,” and my dentist finally acquiesced by having me bring her coffee brands I pick up during travel and not available in our local area. If I could figure out how to set up an intravenous feed of coffee during sleeping hours without the risk of strangling myself I probably would so I couldn’t care less about caffeine count. I don’t do overpriced so-called traditional energy drinks because I get all the energy I need avoiding those who criticize my habits. I’m just fine with carbonated drinks, I think Jolt cola was the product of the last century. If I keel over while refilling my cup at the rotgut counter at the gas station convenience store, I’ve had a darned good run.So, the only factor that matters to me is this blend of apple and orange concentrates tastes good. It kind of reminds me of the old baby juice varieties I used to swipe off the pantry shelves when my kids were of that age. I haven’t looked for it locally yet but If I can find it at a price that works for me ($.20 an ounce ain’t it) ACUTEfruit is a keeper and from me that qualifies as high praise.
