Why has this record been Overlooked?
Ok, I am not a big Paul Anka fan, but this is a killer album. I remember a friend of mine years ago had an 8-track tape of this and he played it a lot. This was back before Paul signed up with United Artists label. He had two albums with Buddha Records between the years 1971 and 1972. Much of this material has been overlooked, Why? I have no idea. The orchestration of Johnny Harris is just fabulous. You listen to the title track and it just blows you away with a huge wall of sound and energy. The song selection on this album fits well together. Many remember Paul Anka for his early material on the ABC Paramount label with songs like Diana, Puppy Love, Lonely Boy and Put Your Head on My Shoulder or the songs from the United Artists years like You're Having My Baby, One Man Woman, I Don't Like To Sleep Alone, and Times of Your Life. But the songs on the RCA years and the Buddha years seem to be forgotten and overlooked. My curiosity has been captured and I am venturing out to find the records that seemed to be overlooked and have discovered the true artist in these recordings, not that the popular records are inferior or have been worn out over the years. I just find the Buddha years very refreshing to hear as if it were new material being heard for the first time.
