This is not about the content of the book. But I received used book.

Excelente libro de comunicaciones digitales

Five stars. Great book.

I liked the original version when it came out and purchased the 2nd edition when it came out with new material. Saw this version sitting on a coworkers desk and decided I "needed" it for the new chapters they added. Overall the book is a excellent overview of every topic it covers. Of course as an overview / fundamentals it cannot cover every detail that might be needed for specific. After all, whole books are written on the subjects of individual chapters. Highly recommended even for experienced communications engineers who what a book that covers a lot of ground. Minor critical observations (for awareness) that no way detract from recommendation : I noted several typo's and other small errors in the newest chapters that seemed out of proportion to those found in the earlier chapters in the earlier editions. Also I am sad that they dropped the chapter on cryptography even though I understand the need to make room for newer chapters. In contrast, it could be said that the crypto chapter was a little dated in comparison to other chapters that remain basically "timeless".

Libro de comunicaciones digitales a un nivel más asequible para los estudiantes de ingeniería que otros autores como Proakis. Bastante bueno, me ha servido para reforzar los conceptos dados en clase. Lo recomiendo.

Dieses Buch vermittelt umfassend die Grundlagen der digitalen Kommunikationstechnik mit all ihren Fassetten. Von der Informationsquelle bis zur -senke werden alle Gebiete der digitalen Informationsübertragung sowie Aspekte schwundbehafteter Funkkanäle behandelt. Viele Autoren legen ihre Schwerpunkte entweder auf die Perspektive der Informations- oder die Systemtheorie. Dieses Buch verbindet beide Sichtweisen, was ein breites Verständnis fördert. Mit diesem Werk hat Bernard Sklar sowohl ein sehr gutes Lehrbuch, mit Beispielen und Aufgaben, als auch eine umfassende Referenz geschaffen. Einziges Manko sind meiner Meinung nach die genannten Beispiele. Aus der Sicht des Lernenden dürfte es mehr von ihnen geben, um Theorie und praktische Anwendung noch besser zu verbinden. Abgesehen davon ist das Buch aber uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen.
