Trusted Protection
After 5 years of perfectly protecting my Note 9, including lots of drops on concrete over that span without a cracked screen, I purchased this one for my S23 Ultra and I've had it installed for a few weeks now. Admittedly, I did initially purchase the UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar for $100 because of the great reviews, but I honestly didn't see what all the fuss was about. I didn't mind spending the money for the UAG, but I just didn't see how it could protect MY S23 Ultra as well as this OtterBox Defender. Additionally, this Defender case allows me to adhere two strong, round, solid magnets vertically between the hard plastic inner case and rubber outer case, so I can basically stick my phone to anything metal, including the mounts I've been using in all 3 of my cars for years, my workout power rack, huge tool chest, etc. Because of the magnets I installed, I don't use wireless charging or the S-Pen (stylus), but I really don't even care about either one (and never missed them over 5 years with my Note 9, either). However, I did try wireless charging with this case without the solid magnets installed (I can't remember if I had the Mophie rings I tried out installed or not) and it worked, so it's an option if you want it. The only issue I ever had with my previous Note 9 Defender case was that the top layer of rubber on the outer case started peeling after about 4 years. It was only cosmetic, but it did make me want a new rubber outer case because I was always picking at it. But, I didn't want to spend the money for a new case on a phone I didn't think I'd have much longer, so never got around to it. Besides, I'm a 48-year-old man, not a teenage girl, so my phone exists as a tool, not a fashion accessory, and, as such, I don't really care how the case looks. Anyway, for me, this case with those aforementioned magnets is my favorite setup of all time. Yes, it makes my phone a little heavier and bulkier, but I'm not a small guy, and the case protects my phone wonderfully while the magnets make it incredibly convenient to stick to anything metal like a tick, so I'm all set for at least another few years.

Good Protective Case
This case has saved my phone a few times. It has fallen from heights that have made me worry twice and the phone is fine. The case can break before the phone will. I suggest taking it off for a phone cleaning once in a while. Won't protect screen or camera lenses. You will need auxiliary covers.

Great protection
This is a great case for my Samsung phone it even has a flap that protects the charging port on the bottom that protects dust from getting into the port. The cost was cheaper than ordering on the orttterbox website. It comes with a detachable belt clip it does not have a kickstand to use and it does not cover the fingerprint reader and the buttons are easy to use. The color also is great.

Typical Otterbox Defender protection
I'm a lifelong fan of Otterbox Defender cases. They're the only cases I use and they're on every phone my family has had for over a decade. They've saved my phones from damage countless times and have paid for themselves many times over. So far the other cases I've tested just haven't measured up. And Otterbox has stood by their warranty every time I've needed it.That said, there are a few quirks with my most recent order that need to be called out.1. Not a product issue per se, but Otterbox has apparently changed their packaging. These now come in a less sturdy box with an open front. I ordered two cases on here, and they arrived with the product packaging somewhat beat up and with crushed corners. The interior of the box, including the case itself, was full of lint and dust and what looked like maybe packing debris. I thought they might be counterfeit or returns, but on close examination these indeed appear to be new genuine items. At the same time I ordered another case of the same model directly from Otterbox (different color that wasn't available on Amazon). It arrived in the same packaging and in the same condition, albeit with less crushing and damage to the corners. A local AT&T store had a few on the shelf and in similar shape; the boxes were a little beat up and the interiors full of dust & lint. I am disappointed in Otterbox's packaging for these; I expected a clean product in sealed packaging from the factory. The interior of the silicone part of the case really sticks to this kind of stuff and isn't particularly easy to clean. Not the kind of start I wanted for my brand new phones. Otterbox, I think you can do better with the packaging.2. The opening at the bottom of the case affords ample room for connecting to the phone's USB-C port, with respect to the plastic portion of the frame. However I always have to make a modification to the silicone part of these cases. The silicone plug that covers the USB port is great when it's closed, but it's a pain when it's open for accessing the port. The plug is thick and stiff, and has to be firmly pushed up/open to access the port. It puts a significant amount of pressure on the cable connector or connected device, which puts stress both the connector and the phone's USB port. Over time I feel like this is asking for trouble and will cause a failure of the USB port (I experienced this once already). Additionally, although the plug is wedged in between two frame pieces and very secure when closed, while open it is connected only by the thin strip of silicone remaining around the bezel of the phone. Opening the plug tends to pop this thin section up and out of the plastic case bezel, and quickly makes this part of the silicone case very loose. It is clear the design intent is for this plug to remain closed all the time and provide structural support to the thin bezel piece, and to only be open for brief occasional use. However if you use the USB port frequently, this will cause problems. So on my cases, I carefully cut off the USB- port plug using an exacto knife. This leaves the port easily accessible, avoids putting strain on the port and connector, and allows the thin bezel section to remain snugly in place. The USB port and other openings on this phone are IP68 rated already, so dust and moisture ingress aren't really an issue. What you do risk by doing this is dust & debris building up in the USB port itself, however this can be mitigated with a good phone holster. Also the USB port itself can be [carefully] cleaned out if it ever becomes a problem. I ran two Note8 phones in Defender cases with the port covers removed, and never had an issue with dust/debris buildup in the port despite doing a lot of work in harsh and often dusty environments for 6 years. I recommend this slight modification to anyone who intends to use the USB port on their phone frequently.Otterbox: Please consider changing the design of these cases so that the USB port cover is hinged from the back of the case and not the bezel, and has enough room while open to not out pressure on the USB connectors.3. These cases no longer come with a screen protector. I imagine this is due to improvements in screen technology and sensitivity, where putting something loose over the screen that isn't almost perfectly melded can cause a decrease in touchscreen performance. Still, I wish there was an option for an integrated screen protector.
