Shaping Stone: The Art of Carving Soapstone: Volume 1

I enjoy (and aspire to do much better!) both limestone carving and wood carving. A logical extensikon is to carve in soapstone and alabaster. So I have booked myself on a course but I do like to do a bit of homework before hand. This book has plenty of detailed instructions combined with copious coloured photos as the author goes from start to finish on an interesting abstract piece that uses the colour and features of soapstone..I now feel that I will gain the maximum benefit from my course and be confident to carry on with 'shaping stones' after that At the end of the book there are a few intersting examples of other works .Also buy the book and you get details of web searches to find supporting videos by the author - which are well worth looking at.This book is for the novice to the intermediate. I see that it is Volume 1 and I look forward to the author producing Volume 2.In summary - a bargain!

This looks like a really good book, think I'll be b uying the second volume too!
