Pricy, but works
I wanted this to make a heating pack. I make typically make them with flax seed but the smell gets to me after awhile so I wanted to try this sand.Pros: I purchased this b/c it is supposed to be better for retaining heat and have no smell. It does retain heat well. It is Packaged well.Cons: it is expensive for 3.5 pounds. The pillow is small!I would love to see a bigger back at a better price. I would love to make these for family and friends but the price will not allow me to do that. Overall I am happy with what I made with it.

Clean product
When making hot packs, I researched many options to use inside the bag. Many of the suggestions were food related and stated that if you put it away and didn’t use it for a while, it accumulates bugs. I decided to use this sand and I was happy with it and so was my recipient of the gift.

Bought for microwaveable warming packs
Great alternative to rice and wheat berries. No smell, holds warmth for a long time.

Average sand, astronomical price
After reading all the hype, I expected soooo much more. I opened it immediately, and put it in a glass cup with another cup of water next to it per instructions. I microwaved it 3 minutes and it was barely warm. So I went another 2 minutes. Sand was moderately warm, (about as warm as if I put my rice bag in for 1 min instead of the 2 I usually do) but the glass cup the sand was in was scalding after those 5 min. I needed hot pads to get the cup out of the microwave, but could pour the sand directly in my hand and it was comfortable. I thought, maybe since it took so long to heat, it would cool equally slow. So I checked it every 5 min. It cooled much faster than my regular rice bag. I am disappointed on both points. They were accurate on one thing though, it has no odor.

Pricey but really nice!
There are so many uses for good lava sand like this that I had difficulty deciding what to do with it. I made a small heating pad and it retained heat well for that. It also added weight which felt really good. I saved some for art/craft projects since I love working with texture. The fact that this has been washed, sifted and sanitized is awesome and makes working (or planning to) with this so much easier.

Great for crafting
This Lava Sand is an excellent choice for crafts, heating pads, cooling pads, and aquariums. It is screened, washed, dried, and sanitized, ensuring cleanliness and safety. The 3 lb bag is the perfect size for a variety of projects. Compared to other sands, This Lava Sand has many advantages. It is cleaner than some others, and free of dust and dirt. It holds its shape when wet, making it ideal for making shapes and crafts, as well as providing a stable base for aquariums. The sand is also heated and dried, making it safe to use in heating and cooling pads. The price of this Lava Sand is also quite reasonable. It is competitively priced compared to other sands, making it a cost-effective choice. The 3 lb bag is enough for a variety of projects, making it a great value. Highly recommended.

This lava sand is rather pricey but seems to work very well.
This lava sand is rather pricey but seems to work very well. I can't speak to the heat-holding capabilities because I got it for gardening and for an aquarium. For my purposes, it is working great and looks great.
