Beginner here, and yes, this helps!
The media could not be loaded. So this all started 3 months ago when i thought it would be fun to try to jump rope. Background: I've gone from 243lbs (Jan 25th this year) to (still losing, but currently at) 173.5 on Sep 7th.Initially it was just changing what i was eating that i needed to concentrate on. Now i have the nutrition down, and I've been wanting to incorporate fitness. In the past, running has always been my go-to for cardio, but i wanted to shake things up and try jump rope. It looks so fun on those videos...So i started trying to jump rope. Oh. My. Gosh. After being out of shape, combined with not doing it for decades, i wondered how i had ever done it.Well, first of all i had to figure out that almost all jump ropes you buy, unless you're super tall, need to be cut/ adjusted FOR YOU before you start.Yeah, i didn't realize that. But once i did, that helped. Then i was jumping too high. I kept missing. So the first try, about 3 months ago, didn't really go anywhere. Then 2 months ago, i decided i would no longer consider the "cordless" jump ropes 'cheating'. I picked up a set with a built in counter, and started just practicing my jumping, working on my fitness ability to go for longer periods of time.I've really enjoyed this and I've really improved my stamina over the last two months. So now I'm ready to go back to ACTUAL ropes, and work on my form.So yes, my form is NOT GREAT in this video, because I'm jumping too high off the ground, and my feet are "clapping" together. They hadn't been doing that with my "cordless" jump rope, but now i actually need to clear a hurdle, so there will be an adjustment. (This was my first attempt back with a rope. I just cut off about 8 inches, tested it n and started recording.)BUT THE MAT! Having the jump rope slap the mat instead of the ground has been SO MUCH better than just jumping in the grass. There's not really a good place in doors to do this, and i don't want to jump on the concrete driveway because that's harder on my joints. The one time i did that, i felt it for the next couple days, and I'm guessing it was unneeded wear and tear on my body.I'm using the black jump rope because it's lighter weight than the white beaded one... that's for when i get on better shape. The speed rope, i food not even attempt because I'm still so new that i can't fairly evaluate a speed rope. But the black beaded rope has been so easy to use and super easy to adjust to. The combo of the rope plus the mat just makes practicing easier, in my opinion. It eliminates the ground's bumps and bulges from "catching" my rope and causing drag. If i had realized how much better it would be to jump on the mat, i definitely would have gotten one sooner! The mat is different than my yoga mats, although similar. It's definitely a better quality and not very foam-y... meaning i don't think it'll snag or blemish easily, and I expect it to last for a while.I'm very happy with the one rope I'm using, as well as the mat!

Definitely higher quality than cheap jump ropes
It comes with 3 ropes, all in a progression style. Haven't even used the heavier ones because I know I still have work to do with the lighter ones. They are easily adjustable all you need to do is untie the knot and cut it to your size. Online there's a how to on how to find the appropriate length for jump rope. Better yet you can just cut the rope under the handle if you can't untie the rope since you're going to cut the length anyways. The mat it comes with helps reduce impact on the joints, especially if you're only place to practice this is on concrete or hard wood floors. Give a decent cushion and grip on the feet so you don't slip. Only thing is you'll need to leave some weight on the enges for a while because the mat comes warped from being packaged up for so long. Seems only one side is pretty bad with the curved shape of being rolled up the other side molds to the floor pretty easily. Overall for getting started jump roping this is a great set, lots of room for progression. Good find!

These aren’t your kids toy store ropes
These are really high quality ropes and the included mat is of equal quality. This kit is great if you just want to get into jump roping for fun or add it to your workout routine. The included program also provides a great starting point in your rope jumping journey.Overall the ropes/handles a made really well and can take the constant beating against whatever surface. That being said the included mat is clutch. It’s not like an average ‘yoga’ mat. It’s made of high density foam and will protect your floors and ropes from abrasions (and from your busting your ‘behind’). Keep in mind these are weighted ropes and you should use the appropriate rope for your situation. As for the price of $100 for the whole kit (mat included). I think it’s a great value considering these are probably the last ropes you’re going to buy unless you need to graduate to something heavier.

Very good workout jump ropes and mat!
These elite jump ropes are sturdy and easy to use. I love these jump ropes and I was happy they came 3 in a pack to have different styles of ropes. The mat is easy to use and clean as well as sturdy. I will get this product again.
