Can anyone fit this or does it have to be done by an electrician?

You could do it yourself but it is very fiddly. I had electrician do mine.

Hi William, I believe it's about 1.8m+. My bathroom ceiling is at 2.5m and I had to shorten the cord to make it comfortable for myself

What is the actual diameter

It is some time since this was installed and as I have very high ceilings and am advanced in years, I cannot get up to measure it. At a good guestimate I would say the diameter is about 3-3.5 inches (don't do centimetres, sorry). It was fitted by my friendly neighbourhood electrician who just fixed the bit containing the switch mechanism to an existing installation which suggests it is a very standard size, if that is helpful.
