Fire DVD - Light The Box

This product deserves the high reviews it has. Over the moon with it. You have the choice of putting on the screen a series of traditional log fires (with sound if you so wish) or contemporary modern stone fires. You can select one fire and it plays continuously on a loop. Alternatively, you can select all fires and they will change every ten minutes. The stone fires are great if you like colours, There is a pink flame, golden colour, ice blue and even a refreshing green. And it is true, you do actually feel warmer when its blazing away on your flat screen (it fills the whole screen !). I put the blue one on for a while and I actually felt colder. If you like real fires but can`t have one then you will not be disappointed with this substitute. You can even make the flames look more vivid if you adjust the colour balance on your television if you so desire. With the gentle roar of the fire, the crackling and the fire `shadows` it creates on the walls and doors you are convinced you have a real fire on the go. Smashing to read a book by or just to chill out and listen to music. Of course, has a better effect in subdude lighting and in the evenings. This product would make a great stocking filler for christmas and I will be buying a few more. Treat yourself.

Fake fire on small TV

This is a great DVD, has a choice of 6 traditional fires and 6 contemporary ones. I found I use the traditional ones more, but that's just a matter of taste. I play it through my PS on a 40" Sony LCD TV. It plays in HD, but in a lower resolution (576) since the DVD is not recorded in FULL HD (1080). But, that said, the image is very crisp and clear, the colors are awesome and the crackling fire sounds very pleasant. It's so soothing you can fall asleep to it.After ten minutes, which is the cycle of one fire, it freezes for half a second and starts automatically at the beginning again, or then with the next fire, depending on how you've set it up. That's slightly annoying, that's why I rate it 4 stars - although it could also have to do with the player and not the DVD. Anyway, all in all I think it's one of the better fireplace DVD's out there. Worth the money I spent on it!

I got this for my husband, as a bit of a joke since he'd been wistfully wishing we had a fireplace...... as it turns out, we both really got a kick of of this DVD.The reasons I only give it 4 stars are becausea)there are "traditional" fires and "contemporary" fires. The former being wood fire and the latter coloured lava rocks... We aren't the least bit interested or attracted to the contemporary fires, but some people might like them.b) there is a significant pause as the flame "cycle" restarts - which is a pity. They seem to have a 10 minute cycle - it would be nicer if it were longer.The video is great (we have an old tv, not LCD, LED OR PLASMA) and the picture is very crisp and realistic.The sound effects of wind, crackle and snap and pop almost make you want to break out the marshmallows.All in all, we're very entertained with our new "fireplace".

All I wanted was a DVD fireplace that with a small amount of suspension of disbelief, I could imagine was an actual fireplace.It is not possible to have any kind of real fireplace at my home address so for many years I have used a video version.It has lasted me well, but now due to its age, it is starting to skip and freeze occasionally.I thought I would purchase a replacement and so I read a number of reviews and finally settled on this product.You have a choice of 5 contemporary fireplaces, (colored gas flames issuing from pebbles), and 5 traditional fireplaces, (logs in various stages of combustion).The DVD works well with an intuitive menu selection screen.The different fires are all good and well recorded.The picture is fine quality and the sound is accurate.I can easily suspend my disbelief and have it running in the background whilst I am reading or having a conversation with guests.It transforms the room at night into a cosy and warm refuge, (provided you have some form of real heating).I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone trying to decide which to buy.
