If you've never seen this...
You might want to watch it now. It's the story of humans at our finest, working together, doing those things which we do best, and producing the exquisite. We will lose comms with Voyager 1 very soon, as she's going outside the range. This breaks my heart, even though I knew it would eventually happen.Who knows where she'll end up. I just hope that if/when some other beings discover her out there among the stars, that she's a sign to them that there's a planet with beings who can produce something this magnificent.

The longevity of the Grand Tour; no one ever expected it.
My brother-in-law, Jim Long, was project manager on the Grand Tour/Voyager project. He worked at JPL until his untimely death. I am praying Voyager, after leaving our galaxy, has caught up with him in the outer regions and heaven. I pray NASA let's it play out on it's own and don't stop audio transmissions. It was a thrill, as a young teen, getting updates from NASA; We were visiting JPL in Pasadena during Encounter in or around July of '76 when Io was discovered (one of Jupiter's 4 moons), with volcanic eruptions. Long live the grand tour. It surpassed and surprised all of them.

Excellent program
It boggles the mind what these scientists can do and the shot toward the end, when Voyager is turned to take a picture of the solar system from beyond Neptune, shows the fragile world we live on.

Everyone on this planet should watch this.
This is an essential piece of history for every human on this rock. It’s one of those films you need to watch over and over. Visionary’s need to be honored and never forgotten.

This shows the best of humanity, and I watch it whenever current politics make me feel hopeless.
This tells a truly amazing story of the Voyager spacecrafts, but I love it most because of all the many people who worked on this. It's the best of humanity, not through heroics, but through normal people being curious and creative and passionate and inspired. It shows people don't have to be special superhero outliers who sacrifice everything. Normal people with normal lives (and Carl Sagan) went to their usual jobs and worked on this as an ongoing project, but they also loved it. They did extraordinary things that were, for the most part, worked into their daily routines (though they never lost sight of how amazing it was). I watch this whenever I feel despair about politics and the world and how awful people can be, because it's a reminder that even when we mess up or do awful things en masse, individual people will always have these qualities in them, and you can't get rid of that because it's just part of what humans are. Also there are really cool pictures of space, and I get so many chills when Obama announces that Voyager 2 has just become the first man-made thing to leave our solar system.Love love love.

My 5 year old's favorite movie lol Ours too!
I don't know what made us watch this on Netflix, but last year we watched it with our then-4-y-o. It has since become his movie obsession lol and even the rest of our family is really into it. We ordered the dvd for his birthday present, and needless to say, his first exclamation was "Voyager!!!!!"I've seen several documentaries, and this one truly takes the cake. The interviews with the scientists are fantastic. Most of the scientists have some incredible insights not only into space, but into humanity and our existence in such an enormous universe. The music choices were spot-on, and placed at perfect moments throughout the documentary. The visual effects could rival any modern space movie- like Passengers or The Martian.I've watched this movie over 100 times, and I have never gotten tired of it, never been bummed that that's the movie my kid wants to watch for the evening, and still get just as captivated as the first time we watched it.

Get The Planets instead
The Voyager missions are documented in a far superior manner in the "Giants" episode of the BBC series The Planets (the 1999 version, NOT the new version with Brian Cox), which conveys the process and excitement of discovery much better, has better archival footage, and includes more details about the missions. The Planets also benefits from superb narration by Samuel West. Save your money and get The Planets instead.

It's the greatest exploration of our solar system to date
This is an outstanding documentary featuring both the scientists involved and the technologists as well. It's the greatest exploration of our solar system to date...(The Cassini and New Horizons spacecraft filled in more details years later) It's well recommended for anyone interested in our solar system and our civilization.

Incredibly good
Such a well done documentary on the voyager satellites 🛰. Their conception, construction and launch. Then of course the data, and then the pictures and new information.

Overwhelming
Fantastic! - I never thought, in all my 88 years, that I would see live pictures of Jupiter, Saturn, etc----but now I have. And the presentation is superb. Incredible. I only hope the current US political scene doesn't screw up the future of the space program, just lets it run.....Chas
