Don't be put off by the fact it's a Dutch import
Received my set today, and have watched two complete cases (4 episodes) already. Still love the show as much as I remembered.Having read a number of the other reviews, here's my feedback to some of themThe Dutch (not German) subtitles can be turned off very eaily - either before playing (select the 'uit' option) or (on my player) by using the subtitle button after play starts. Once you've done that you wouldn't know this is a Dutch import. With regards to the way the disks are stored.... I have several British sets where two disks are in one side of the case but overlapping, and I've never seen any complaints about that. The only difference with the way it's done in this set (and other Dutch imports I've purchased) is that they're additionally 2 deep on each spindle (making them 4 to each side of the case), but I can't see why having one fully overlapping another is any different to a partial overlap?Putting them in this way also makes the set more compact. This set contains the pilot (movie at the BACK of the box - take that out and watch it first) plus all 45 2-part cases. The outer slipcase measures just 18.8 x 14.5 x 5 cm (roughly 7.5 x 5.75 x 2 inches), so takes much less storage space than 24 individual cases (even the slimline ones) would. My only minor grips would be that the disks aren't marked to allow identification of play order - not even a series number on them. So I'll be regularly double checking with IMDb (or similar sources) as I work through them to be sure I stick to play order.

Good series, no errors and good news for subtitle panicky Petes
To correct some of the other reviews and provide clarification:1. The subtitles are in Dutch, not German. A few minutes with Google Translate will tell you all you need insofar as understanding the menu items, which really are not more than "Play All" and "Subtitles", and later on "Chapters" (for the "movie" which is not a movie)2. ANY (seriously, any) DVD player can turn off the "German" (which are Dutch) subtitles. Any negative review for them existing is nonsense. Turn them off. And if through some miracle, you own the only DVD player with no subtitle control, all is not lost. The menu has subtitles ON or OFF. Use that. Use google to find it, but it's there. Note the setting is not "on your TV". That's closed captioning, not the same.3. The series 1 are (slightly) out of order because the original "Waking the Dead" episode (which is the pilot) is not on the Series 1 disk. However the "movie" is the pilot. Watch it first before "Burn Out". If you watch it after Series 9 you will marvel at how Boyd has lost about 10 years in age, Mel is back to work and Eve is gone. That's because it is Episode 1-2 (see Wikipedia) not 93-94Other than being a bit ponderous (Boyd) at times, it's a great series and a huge bargain for 80 plus hours of this series for 35 quid. Other good choices are Silent Witness, Line of Duty and Happy Valley if you like UK procedurals. Also try Cracker and Messiah.

This was easy and makes this virtually half the price of the ...
Read the reviews and apparently the 1st season is a bit jumbled up (apparently you need to change it about as it does not run in sequence). It was not an issue for us as we already have the UK version of season 1 , Therefore a much cheaper price for the rest of the set providing you change the language. This was easy and makes this virtually half the price of the UK set so feel I get a bargain, everything plays fine and really pleased with the purchase.

Excellent Series with a few minor problems with this particular Box Set
The series is great and the recordings are fine. The price is way below UK specific sets of this. There are 3 minor problems which stopped me giving it a 5 star review.1. The pilot episodes are not included, at least not in the set that I purchased.2. The DVD box/case is terrible with the DVD's basically doubled up compared to a normal UK box set.3. You have to adjust your TV so that sub titles are not shown (assuming you do not want Dutch subtitles!) - easy enough to do but may cause some people problems if they are not sure how to do this.English is the language spoken by the actors with Dutch subtitles - the speech is not dubbed in Dutch. The picture quality is fine and I am sure it is identical to the UK versions. At roughly 50% of the price of UK issues of this collection, and so much cheaper then buying the individual seasons, I do feel bad about only giving it 4 stars but 4.5 stars is not possible.

Loving it!
Haven't managed to watch all of it yet, but what I have seen is fantastic, loving it. It's every bit as good as I remember first time round! Buying the Dutch version is no problem at all just get rid of the subtitles by clicking on UIT on the main menu. Also watch the movie disc at the back of the box first as this is the pilot episode. I highly recommend this.

Episode guide on inside of flap
Easy for an English speaking user to turn off Dutch subtitles. Some people have commented on the difficulty of working out which disk is which, which just have the episode names and not the series number or order - thankfully there is an episode guide underneath a flap on the cardboard sleeve.

Loved the series
Bought this as I never got round to watching all the episodes when they were on tv. Only thing I wasn't aware of was that the packaging was in a foreign language but looking closer at the picture you can see this so can't complain, the discs play perfectly in English.

The whole collection - don’t be worried it’s Dutch
Absolutely recommend this. Love this show and was very excited to find could buy the whole collection. As others have stated the movie is actually the pilot. If watching in order watch this first. Easy to tune off the subtitles. Would certainly recommend.
