What is the difference between the p14 and the p14.2

The P14.2 had a lumens output of 350 lumens. Whereas the P14 has a lumens output of 800 lumens. This P14 is the upgraded version of the P14.2.

How many batteries does it take? amazon say 4xaaa, ledlenser say 1xaaa.

One AAA battery. Torch is tiny and lasts so long on one Alkaline battery. Spot to flood beam too. Excellent for the money

Can I use re-chargeable batteries in this torch? They are 1.2 volts each.

That's a good question and one that I asked Ledlenser but never got a definitive reply. I see no reason why re-chargeable batteries should not be used though, as you observed, they do start 0.3 volts down, but since AAA Duracell batteries are so cheap and last for ages I opted to use these. The set that came with the torch lasted for a couple of months when used every night to take the dog out last thing, and there is no telling how old those batteries were when I started using them ! As I see it, the main advantage of re-chargeables is that they have a higher current rating than Alkaline, so, in theory, they should last longer. The only disadvantage I can see is that re-chargeables tend to lose charge over time because of their internal resistance which means that by the time you need them they would ideally need a fresh charge before use whereas Alkaline are immediately usable. Hope this helps.

Difficult to fit belt clip - is there a trick?

My advice would be to throw the belt clip in the bin - it is totally useless. It would have been far better to build in a way of attaching a wrist lanyard. I dropped my torch first time I used it outdoors and rendered the beam focus more or less useless.
