Croakies Premium Leather Eyewear Retainers

I have used the nylon cords that I always found too short. I have tried the beaded cords, but not only do they make me look old, my hair gets wrapped around them and pulls out. I also had one leather cord that I loved but I think I wore it out, it began split and I was afraid it would break and my glasses would fall. However, this one is perfect. Some reviews say it's thin, but don't mistake that for weakness. It's a polished rolled (rounded) leather cord with secure loops on the end. The thinness makes the cord understated and while it does hang around the neck it doesn't appear schoolmarmish. It does not catch my hair and it is long enough so I don't feel choked. I bought two, one for my new glasses, one for my older pair. I am thinking of buying more just so I have them when I want them, I really like these. I am a teacher and rarely work at my desk; I am in fact all over the building. The cord solution was the only option because I would have lost my glasses long ago otherwise. I highly recommend these.

I bought this for an elderly person with some gross motor skill difficulties after a stroke. The pictures are a bit difficult to see, hence the reason for this review. The part that attached the cord to the glasses is the typical kind that you see in eyeglasses cords in your local drugstore--a little rubber piece. This kind had a habit of falling off for the user, so I knew it would be the wrong one and returned it. I had great luck with the Chums 3mm Universal Fit Rope Eyewear Retainer, also available on Amazon, which has neoprene grips that ensure the glasses never fall off. So if you're looking for something for a person who has trouble keeping glasses on or keeping track of them, this is not the cord for them.

These just make wearing glasses so convenient, when I do not want then on my face, I just let them dangle down and no need to worry about losing them. This is the 2nd set of leather cord eyeglass retainer's that I have bought, these were for my prescription eyeglasses. The other was the Croakies tite-end type one's for my Ray-Ban sunglasses. These are just great, with a real leather strap, metal connecting ring, and flexible rubber grasping connector that attaches to the sides. Note: Do attach the rubber retainer ring from the cord securely to the glasses sides, you must tighten them good. I feel that the cord is the perfect size and thickness. The big difference between the two kinds of eye-wear retainers that Croakies makes is this type of retainer is easier to attach or un-attach to/from the glasses. The tite-end one's you have to kind of work onto the glasses, but then just leave them on and you are good to go forever, or until the rubber connecting part breaks and gives out. That did happen to the Ray-Ban's cord, but I simply used the metal connecting ring directly to the glassed sides, and this will definitely last forever now. I would buy a set of these retainers for each and every set of glasses that you want them on. Yes, the rubber parts do wear out over time, but heck the retainer cords are only like $10 anyway, so I will just buy a new set whenever the rubber part does decide to break, like maybe once a year with daily heavy wear.

I've been using these for several months now and I'm quite happy. I have a large head (8.5 baseball hat which is mighty large) and this lanyard easily goes over my head -- some straps are a little too close to my face when taking them on/off, but these are roomy.-- I am concerned how well the leather will age as I live in a dry climate but so far, so good!-- Why only 4 stars, not 5? I just don't toss out 5's like that =P

This item does not feel like leather, I am no expert but I know what leather feels and looks like and this is not it.The clasp works fine, holds the glasses firm. No complaints about it's function but it is NOTleather.

I was extremely happy when eyeglass retainer arrived and immediately put them to use. However, 2 hours later disappointment set in when I notice my glasses were dangling on my neck with only 1 arm still attached to the retainer. The rubber band attached to the other arm was broken. I can not recommend this product.

Great quality and the right price. They are exactly as expected.

LEATHER NOT TANNED PROPERLY. THESE SMELL LIKE GOAT.I think there is a problem with the leather these are made of.
