why is this matt so expensive?? It looks exactly same as some of the cheaper ones? Where is this matt made?

I do not know where it is made, but its quality is high. I would check twice before buying a cheap product because it may be of poor quality and you end up paying more...

What side is the bottom, to go on the floor?

Cleaning instructions? and how durable are you finding the mat i.e. hands / feet rubbing against the material over time?

Can clean with antibacterial spray. The mat is very durable but I have made some marks with my trainers (drag marks). There is no major damage and I am very happy with this mat.
