Q: I ordered a new “plug” but it still does not seal plug hole when pushed down. Do I need this to fit to the plug hole? And if so, how?

I think there are two different sizes for the France sink. Your old plug probably only needs a new rubber seal. They are easy to replace.

No it's 4.5cm. Fits the waste assembly to seal the plug.

A new Franke basket has the seal attached. I have two and one lasted 11 years before the seal needed replacing.

Q: How do disassemble my franke strainer plug to replace the seal/washer?

No disassembly required. Simply peel off the worn seal and fit the new one. If using a genuine Franke seal be careful to fit the replacement with the contoured side showing. From experience it only takes a couple of minutes.
