You can enjoy the timelines in many ways: unfolding them on the floor, reading them like a book or detaching them to stick them to the wall. Review: Fantastic, jam-packed, captivating and fun! - This book set is amazing! I was looking for something that illustrated world history in a timeline format and stumbled across this before it was available. I took a chance and pre-ordered it. I have four children (11, 9, 5 and 3) and homeschool my oldest. I was searching for something that would help me organize my history curriculum (I'm a visual learner myself) and also help us grasp the "big picture".+ My 11 year old is a reluctant reader but enjoys "bite-sized" nugget reading. He also likes to spend time exploring detailed illustrations. These books hit the nail on the head! I would liken it to the quality of Usborne Books... thick paper, sturdy covers and jam-packed with fun learning! The book set keepsake box makes an impressive first impression. It was so heavy, I could hardly hold it with one hand. My big kids' eyes lit up when they opened the book and expanded the pages... to SIX FEET! They also eagerly grabbed the large magnifying tool (conveniently located in a pocket on the inside cover). The text is very small, probably equivalent to 6pt font size. I can read it without the tool, but it's not easy. The magnifier is 5.5" x 4". While the book can be expanded, you can also flip through the pages. The book includes about 10 pages at the back which feature "newspaper articles" and illustrations about major events from the timeline. They are "authored" by fictitious characters in a fun format. There is also a section with brief quiz questions to test your recollection. The books have the perfect balance of text to illustrations... enough pictures to captivate interest and concise, but very informational snippets scattered among the pictures. I really like the timeline format which, in addition to a traditional timeline, offers color coded backgrounds to separate periods. I highly recommend this set. If you're thinking about just ordering one of the books individually, you're going to regret not just getting them all after you see it! I could hardly pull myself away from exploring it myself to write this review! Review: So much information! - These books are amazing! There is so much information represented in such a grest way. The art is just beautiful. I didn’t think the font was too small to read as other reviewers said. So happy to have these in my collection for homeschool.

quick overview
I liked that there were three different books covering science, history, and nature. The pull-out pages immediately captivated my granddaughter and we used the "magnifier" to look at some of the different information and it became something to share.

Where are the women?
Its a great visual resource but we opened the history book first and one of my daughter’s first exclamations was, “Where are all the women?” She had only skimmed as far as the stone ages. Can we not even imagine that women were present in the stone ages? I dare not ask that we imagine they contributed anything. Throughout the rest of the timeline, women appear as often as we usually do in summaries of history.

Treasure trove of information and illustrations
This book is a wonderful. You could spend hours going through the beautifully illustrated pages. It's a pick-up-and-come-back-to-sprawl-on-the-carpet kind of book. Versatile for different ages and one that'll capture a kid's interest for many years.
