Great kitchen aid
Fantastic book which actually has recipes that can be used everyday. I purchased this as my partner has been diagnosed with high cholesterol and it has been a really useful interesting read. It's helped me to adjust my cooking plans and generally guide us through a big change in diets and lifestyle. Highly recommended to anyone trying to get to grips with a major diet and lifestyle change. Easy to follow and very tasty food - can't believe it's actually good for you!!!

Recipes for life
Interesting reading and good advice about health. The recipes are not too fancy. I roasted the chicken with lemon onion and garlic. The result was excellent. I made soup by pressure cooking the carcass and the onion and lemon, removed the bones and added carrots parsnip, swede, leeks, more onion, celery, chopped tinned tomatoes. coreander seed and added water to cover. After boiling I left to cool and put in blender. Now there is a slightly unusual soup that I certainly will be making again. There are a number of fish recipes in the book - (Omega 3 fatty acids) There is a good explanation of the various fats and there effect on cholesterol, advising you on which ones to avoid. This is not a diet book but, simply a guide to healthy eating.

An excellent purcahse for those wanting to watch their cholesterol and yet be inspired to cook tasty meals.
I have just ordered my second copy of this book, having misplaced the first version and being at a loss without it.I adore cooking but when high cholesterol was diagnosed, cooking seemed not to be as much fun anymore as half the ingredients now appeared on the banned food list! However, this book was a godsend.I did not want to be bombarded with yet more info about cholesterol as I'd had my fill of studying that, I just wanted a book with some tasty recipes for me and my family to enjoy. It is full of great recipes that have become firm and regular favourites on my everyday menu and one or two have even made an appearance at dinner parties (the feta and aubergine stacks are yummy!. My 12 year old son and my partner also enjoy everything that I have recreated from this book. Highly recommended.

Good range of lower cholesterol menus.
Purchased "eating for lower cholesterol" alongside "eating for your heart" - both by HEART UK.Informative introduction regards heart issues. The menus are for four people and are well laid out - some with accompanying photos.I am a reasonable cook - & found these menus more accessible than the menus in "eating for your heart".An easy to follow book - with a wide variety of menus - breakfasts - mains & puddings.A worthwhile book to help you achieve a healthy heart. As a single person - I deal with the menu for four- by freezing food not consumed - quality healthy foods ready to cook in the future!David C.

Healthy recipes
A good recipe book, but did not meet my hopes and expectations. The recipes mainly contained a fairly long list of ingredients with appropriate preparation time. To be honest, this does not fit in with my lifestyle and i required more simple recipes which would not take much preparation.A friend recommended another book more suitable to my needs and the above will either sit on a shelf or be passed on to a friend who prefers to take more time in the kitchen! Also most of the recipes cater for 4 people, so for myself or two of us I have to try to make suitable calculations. Please note, authors of this type of book, that you are not always catering for families of four!

Very informative.
The introduction of this book is very informative and quite detailed re the "Mediterranean Diet" and the recipes are relatively straightforward. Some recipes use reduced salt soy sauce which if I am not mistaken is usually sold as "light" soy sauce. The difference in the salt concentrations between these however is modest. On the whole a good buy.

Excellent book
Having been diagnosed with high cholesterol in a recent health check, I found this book invaluable for explaining the reasons why there is concern about high cholesterol. The book also gave excellent information on foods that are good to eat as well as foods which are bad to eat.I recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about the effects of cholesterol and not just receive diet and recipe suggestions - these are there as well.
