Can you use this to copy pictures from the pc hard drive to the xd card?

The PC recognizes this as an external folder and you should be able to copy and paste both ways

Will it take a fuji smart media card? Any advice gratefully received.

Ooops! 1st of two apologies. This is now corrected (I hope) to refer to XD cards, not SD cards. Sorry to take so long - you have probably found,out the answer already. I only bought it because I had an XD card from my Olympus camera which didn't 'plug-n-play' with the XD so-called dedicated socket on the computer. This card reader has worked perfectly well with any XD card that I have used since. Hope this helps.

This does not work - it requires too much power. (I am using this using an usb-lightning adapter)

Does this work with kindle hd ?

We are afraid not. It needs a USB port on either a PC or Mac
