Review: Inspiring aquascape specialist read. - Excellent book. Full of very inspiring pictures and some good philosophy. Like the thought that aquascape should be designed for happy fish rather than to please the people. Given me new inspiration. Binding is , as per previous reviews, a bit delicate but forget that and enjoy the magnificent photography. Review: A must have from a true master - Bought it as a present. Having had a quick look through it looks excellent. Detailed information of plants, inverts, substrate etc. included with each tank. A must have from a true master. Worth the purchase if you intend to take aquascaping to the next level.

stunning
Beautiful pictures as you would expect. It isn't a guide book but it is crammed full of inspiration. Tells you exactly what the plants and equipment used are so you can replicate. Definitely worth buying if you are into aquascaping.

Beautiful tanks - but not true biotopes
This book contains many absolutely beautiful aquarium layouts, with superb photography and details on the equipment and environmental parameters needed to achieve them. My only slight criticism is that they are not really 'true' nature aquariums as the title would have you believe. Many look more like gardens (very beautiful ones!) with 6 or more plant species (which is extremely rare in a restricted aquatic habitat in nature) from different countries or even continents, never mind the same habitat. And that goes for the fish too. They are also a little bit 'fussy' in my opinion - for example none of these tanks have dead tree leaves on the substrate, which would be far more realistic and actually beneficial for many 'rainforest' tanks (which most of these are really). In short, Mother Nature is not a gardener! Still, nobody could deny the tanks look stunning, over many years Amano raised tank design to an art form. Be warned this book could easily inspire you to create a new tank!

Beautiful
Excellent book, can spend hours at a time gazing at the pictures, all really high quality. The only criticism is that all the animals and plants that are listed in each picture are all listed with their latin names, which means a lot of googling if you want to know exactly what it is! Amano is a genius.

Comprehensive Reference Work for the Work of Takashi Amano
I've been more than a fan of Takashi Amano since I first cracked open a copy of Nature Aquarium World at Old Town Aquarium in Chicago back in the 80's as a kid. I've always said (to the few who would listen) that my life long love of aquaria will always fall into two phases - before and after I opened that book. I went from cheesy plastic plants and failed attempts at salt water to striving for freshwater planted aquariums with an eye for Japanese design. This book is simply as promised. His collected works in one book. The photos are well reproduced as is worthy of his gifts as a photographer and the preeminent aquascape designer. A reference I will return to for as long as I continue to strive for his level of mastery. I will never attain it, but it's a goal worth striving for. RIP Amano-Sama
