Great product!
Nikwax Tech Wash is a great product for washing any waterproof garment with a fabric exterior. After normal use, the exterior fabric on waterproof garments normally loses its water repellency and begins to "wet out" or get "splotchy" instead of the water droplets beading up like when new. Nikwax Tech Wash is the perfect product to both clean the garment and prepare it for renewing the DWR water repellency with the Nikwax TX.Direct product (either the wash-in or spray-on version). Regular use of both Nikwax's Tech Wash and TX.Direct will keep your outdoor water repellent clothing in like-new condition. When ordering Nikwax products from Amazon, be sure to select those that are both sold and delivered by Amazon, and not by a third party vendor who is selling through Amazon. I made that mistake the first time and it took five days instead of one day to receive my products.

The BEST Outdoor Gear Detergent!
Best outdoor gear detergent on the market. I have been steadily using Nikwax on my clothing and gear for over 2 decades now. Some of the items that I ONLY wash with Tech Wash are 20 years old - this stuff is gentle but it gets the job done. It cleans, helps preserve water repellency (when that's a feature of the item), keeps the "camp stink" away, and is just an overall great product. I have been buying the 33 oz bottles as of late but recently noticed they have a much larger size available, so I will be switching to that. Back in the day Nikwax didn't have quite the catalog of products they have now, so it was Tech Wash or bust. I still use it in a pinch for Capilene & other items that have their own Nikwax product. I cannot recommend Tech Wash enough. If you value your outdoor gear and clothing PLEASE do not use regular detergent. It will breakdown the fabrics, coatings, and will affect garment performance. The only negative I have is that the stuff is rather expensive per load, but if you're like me, I'll spend the extra money to keep my nicer gear & clothing in top shape.

Works Great on Motorcycle Gear like Gore-Tex and BMW Proprietary Fabric
I ride a motorcycle thousands of miles a year while touring all over. To ride in comfort, I find it worthwhile to invest in Gore-Tex and other proprietary technologies for my riding gear. However, riding that much attracts a ton of road grime, rain, and all that other gunk on the road. I was having a hard time figuring out how to clean these expensive jackets and pants. Until I found this product.Nikwax tech wash has performed great on my BMW GS Dry suit and my Klim Latitude riding suit. While the Klim is all black so color isn’t that important for the cleaning product I choose, my GS Dry suit has patches of white that get dirty out there. This stuff cuts right through that grime and makes the white look presentable again. You can tell the Tech Wash is gentle on the fabric and I can’t detect any added perfume smells. There’s a slight “plastic” smell to the product, but that smell doesn’t transfer to the jackets or pants.I’m pleased with it and continue to purchase it. It helps keep my gear clean, doesn’t seem to hurt the waterproofness, and doesn’t add any unnecessary smells to my riding gear.My only gripe and why a star was docked is the price. I understand why it’s so expensive, it’s a specialty product meant for a small segment, but I don’t have to like that fact😊!If you’re looking for something to clean your expensive motorcycle gear, give this a shot, It’s worked great for me.

Does the job well for our motorcycle jackets!
My husband and I both ride, and logging miles in SoCal adds lots of crud to our jackets. I bought this to wash our Rev'it Airwave2 and GT-R Air2 jackets in, a lot of white textile which had now become pretty dingy grey. Because I foresee lots of washings, I bought the liter bottle for economy.I hand washed each jacket separately in a plastic tub, so I figured to use less Nikwax. I also used a toothbrush (dipped directly into the bottle) to scrub the really soiled areas, giving it a good amount of work. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased with the final appearance, the road grime and exhaust soil washed out excellently, and our jackets were returned to their original white condition.I decided to do my husband's work commute jacket, a darker Cortech model, but still with white patterns and very soiled. I employed the same effort, soaking the jacket, and using the toothbrush to scrub the white and red regions. I took the photo shortly after I began working on the jacket, it shows the jacket after it had soaked a few minutes, and I had just started using the toothbrush. The brightness really began to return to the white, and the red piping and slashes also brightened up after some scrubbing. The wash tub water was really ugly and dark with all the removed grime. I used a separate plastic tub for the rinsing, three good dunks and swishing to get out as much residue as possible, and then a final hose off and hanging it up outside to air dry.I/we are very pleased with the results, and can recommend the Nikwax for motorcycle clothing, as that was our use. We obtained excellent results, had no issues with any odors afterwards, and it rinsed out cleanly. We have worn the jackets since, with no issues. Well worth the cost and effort to protect the investment we have made in quality riding gear.
