Not as good as the basic one for the computer
Another edit, they promised to send me a new one that recorded at 60 frames a second but never did.Edit: the company just let me know that this device only records at 13 frames a second, where a vcr plays at 24 frames per second. So save the $130 and go for the cheaper one you connect to your computer. This is convenient when you work out the controls but the quality isn't there compared to the $30 one that goes through your computer.

Sensational Multi-function Video to Digital Converter
I love the convenience of the product and the preservation options it provides. Plug, play, and record. The quality is impressive. The sound is great. The HDMI output is a nice touch. This device does everything it's supposed to do and more. There's room for improvement in mainly two areas. Initially, I thought it was a touchscreen, but it's clearly not. That's not a deal breaker. Also, the selection buttons on the top of the device are hard to read. I'll probably add my own custom labels in the future. Other than that, I'm very pleased with it. I have scores of DVDs that need conversion, and this is the best product on the market for the job. I wish I had it a few months ago when I was converting dozens of 8mm tapes. I'll recommend MWIN Video to Digital Converter over using a computer. Far more convenient. Fewer wires. Better accessibility.

Underwhelming, especially for price
Had high hopes for this, but as noted in other reviews the poorly labelled buttons was one of the first annoyances. There's no clear indication of what file format should be used for the SD card, but worse when I hit record the video on the screen paused for a second, then the display changed back to the menu. There was a one-second clip of the movie recorded, and from that point there was no progress. Attempting to record resulted in the same freeze then return to menu, but no recording. From all the positive reviews, it's possible I just got a dud, and the seller did reach out to apologize for the experience. May try it again in the future...I could probably have spent several hours scouring the web trying to figure it all out, but nah - for the price, I expected it to work better out of the box.

Solution for hard to see top button selections
I haven't used the Video to Digital converter yet, will this weekend. After reading other reviews and seeing the black on black letters I took my label maker and made this for my bad eyes to see it. You could take white paint and brush over the raised letters as well.So now to test it out. Seems simple enough hope the quality is good enough. My Mom had 52 tapes sent off and cost her over $750 for the company to put them on memory stick, so I will see if the quality is same or better here. I told her not to send the rest I'd see what This will do boy that's a lot.
