Made my life so much easier !
I have a very wide (7 inches at the base) tiered post at the top of the stairs this made traditional installation of a baby gate impossible even if I wanted to drill into the post ( which I didn't ) the bottom is much wider than the middle and top so I would have been very limited in my choice of gate . I bought a pair of these brackets , knowing the included bolts wouldn't be long enough for my setup I ran to home Depot and got some longer bolts . I was able to stain these brackets to match my posts and then put some foam on the inside where the bracket meets the post to avoid scratches and most importantly got to securely install the gate of my choice . They're secure and holding the gate nicely . Highly recommend if you have an odd sized post like I do.

Nice alternative then drilling into post
I did not want to drill into my railing post. This is a great alternative to that. Bought in conjunction with the cardinal gate. Worked well make sure these will fit the post thickness you have. I measured before I ordered to make sure.

These will NOT work with a 3.5" square post
I read the excellent review saying these do not fit a 3.5" post but ordered them anyway, after all it was only one review (bad mistake). My posts are not "a smidge" above 3.5" as in that post, mine are barely 3.5" and there's no way these can fit. I am going to try a work-around but if it doesn't work I'm out the cost of these because they'll be altered (unreturnable). I drilled a shallow ½" hole so that the head of the bolt is a bit countersunk (I think that's the term). It's a messy hole because I can't anchor the point of the drill in the hole. The extra ¼" or so gives enough leeway to get a few turns of the bolt, but it of course also weakens wood on the bigger wood block, and I can't use the washer. The product itself seems of decent quality but they need to re-write the specs. Very frustrating.

Not a complicated part
I bought 2 of these for installation of a cardinal gate. They really aren't complicated if you are mechanically inclined: 2 blocks of wood with some drilled holes (one with t-nuts) and a couple of screws. They do work and in our case were needed because the handrail would have covered the lock mechanism and this allowed me to shift it out to where I could reach it. My one complaint is that they should send a couple of lengths of screws. I had to buy new ones. At a minimum, they should print on the document that comes with them what thread to buy so I didn't have to take the part there and figure it out (I think it was 1/4-20, so not hard to find, but I'd take the part to the hardware store to be sure!)

Easy, damage-free install for top of stairs gate
Our stairs are tricky, which is why we put off installing baby gates as long as possible. These blocks were very straightforward to install and made installing the top of stairs gate much simpler. And I love how we didn’t have to drill into our stair rails but still have solid, secure gating to keep our little one safe. I do wish they were sold as a pair or had the option for a multi pack.

great for gate on stairs, secured clamp on posts!
This gate clamp is vital when installing gates with stair posts especially on the stairs.I use this for the top of the stairs gate Summer Infant Multi-Use Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate, WhiteI bought this, since I know I will only be needing one pair of clamp for this project. Its very secure and the convenienceof not purchasing it individually and the hassle which would cost almost the same in my local hardware storeis what makes this a great deal. And of course, if you don't want to ruin your stair posts, then this is really what youwould need. I post some photos on it where i made a mistake but its okay since it only damage the wood clamp. Plus it help with making the door more secure and the pressure gate close and makes it less wobly.

Amazon says fits both 3.75" and 3.5" - neither are correct.
This page says it fits both 3.75" and 3.5"."Suitable for square posts (3.75" width or smaller)" and "For post sizes up to 3.5" in width." I thought, my posts are a sliver above 3.5", it'll be fine. Nope! It maybe would fit a 2.5-3" post but not bigger because the bolts aren't long enough. It also wont fit smaller because the bolts aren't threaded all the way.Con: neither fits post sizes up to 3.5" nor 3.75" on the larger end and bolts don't have threading all the way if you havemuch smaller posts/spindles (so it wont stay in place).Pro: Low profile and unobtrusive. Edges of the wood are sanded. It's stainable.

Measure twice, buy once
We needed a safety gate at the bottom of our stairs as soon as possible when our baby developed a fascination with climbing the stairs every chance she got. I didn't have time to go to the hardware store and figure out how to make this clamp myself. Fortunately, it was a perfect fit for us. We wrapped it in duct tape to further protect our post from rubbing damage. Pay attention to the direction of the bolts. There is an error in the installation directions. You want the serrated edge of the washer on the outside of the outside wood. The picture shown here on amazon is correct, but the directions depict the serrated washer on the inside of the post. Hard to explain. You shouldn't have a problem with this if you check your measurements.
